  2. Comment on McFarland leaves UUP
    on 31 March 2010 at 4:46 am

A considerable number of Trade Unionists vote Conservative. Alan McFarland knew he was no doubt in for deselection at the next Assembly election. Ever since he lost the leadership election, in which I mistakenly voted for him, he has behaved like a sulking puerile child and tried to be as fey as his new Leaderene Lady Hermon. She gave up displaying any loyalty to the UUP years ago and if she had had the whip withdrawn long ago this chance to adopt spoiling tactics would have been a nine day miracle. She should now embark on a career on the Stage with Alan McFarland as her manager and devoted Svengali.

  3. Comment on Belfast goes dark tomorrow…
    on 26 March 2010 at 6:31 pm

This could well affect The UUP AGM and hold up the ballot for Chairman. I sincerely hope Tim Lemon is given the chance to be a Chairman for change and is successful in his endeavours. I wish him well.

    on 24 March 2010 at 10:27 pm

This is diabolical what is the position of trustees who have invested especially if under 20K.If each member ponied up £1000 each they could then sort the matter out in their own time it is only £20 per week or £10 per week spread over two years. Their church has landed us in this situation so divvy up.

  5. Comment on “Northern Ireland might be becoming more socially liberal, but…”
    on 23 March 2010 at 4:21 am

England and Wales still have an Established Church whilst Northern Ireland which is disestablished is far less secular than England and Wales. Homosexuality has been with us since early man, so these people need to lighten up and be tolerant. There is room for us all on this planet and raving homophobics piss me off just as over the top overtly gays; however I am even beggining to find their parades slighly amusing.

  6. Comment on The origins of distrust between unionists and the Tories…
    on 23 March 2010 at 4:03 am

The Ulster Unionists are like the old Jew who prayed every night to Jehovah for a muti million pound win on the Lottery. One night after many months of prayer, there was a flash of lightning and smoke in the room and a voice was heard to say “Look here Eichie, you’ve got to meet half way; Firstly you got to buy a ticket”. This is where all the Ulster No Surrender Natioalis Home Rulers are. They have to buy tickets to Westminster and play the UK Team Game as Conservatives and stop selling themselves to the highest bidder. Stand up and be Britsh and stop behaving like Paranoid Sponges.

  7. Comment on “I will only resign if asked by the Holy Father.”
    on 16 March 2010 at 5:03 pm

The only way is to start a petition for him to resign from the priesthood and burn his dog collars and for his flock to boycott the offertory plate until he goes and the RC Church starts sorting out this mess of their own making and addresses all the needs of the victims including financial reparations and bear all the costs of this process and any litigation arising as a result of this.

  8. Comment on Conservatives: Hatfield was about promoting political stability…
    on 14 March 2010 at 5:02 am

The Unionist in the name Conservative and Unionist was in fact referring to the Scottish Unionists not the Ulster Unionists. Though now it is becoming a UK generic party nomenclature. The sooner the merger takes place the better.

Lord Cornwallis said that the Isle of Ireland was the largest open air lunatic asylum in the world. What else is there to say as the lunatics are now running the Asylum.
