Anthony McIntyre poses even more pertinent questions on the reaction of Sinn Fein to their leader’s lies and instinct for self-preservation.

I forsee Adams stepping down soon to ‘allow for the judicial process in this case to proceed without unnecessary political distraction orchestrated by those opposed to Sinn Fein’ or some other form of words.

I also think Martin McGuinness and many others in Sinn Fein who’ve been photographed with his brother, and who are now surveying the damage to the party, to expedite this almost immediately.

    Kudos to Breen.

Sorry for playing the man. Yes, it was a bit harsh – so apologies to Slugger mods, but not the man I tackled.

BTW – having read through Slugger tonight, is dissident sneaking regarder Mark McGregor going to do a spin piece on what this statement really means?

God help anyone who says a word against the dissies while our Mark is around!

  4. Comment on The Case of the Stolen Photographs

Jaysus, this just gets worse. O’Muilleoir has the perfect platform to inform his readers about this despicable case. He has the opportunity to clarify and illuminate this sordid and murky tale. So what does he do?

He threatens and disparages a former ATN hack for having the temerity to do his job for him.

This is disgusting. Ciaran Barnes, if you’re reading this, more power to you, sir.

What is going on here? How dare he insult the intelligence of his readership in this way?

F him and the horse he rode in on.

I’m new to this thread and will sidestep the bickering that seems to be plaguing it.

Gerry Adams is the leader of the biggest nationalist party in Northern Ireland, and yet he tells the readers of the ATN, who elect him, that he doesn’t read the Sunday papers.

What sort of elected representative is that?

There’s lots to be said about this story, but the bottom line, for me, a west Belfast Catholic, is:

The republican movement only ever care about their own – and by that I mean their operatives, those who killed for them, or robbed for them, or tortured, threatened and abused everyday Joes and Josephines.

That’s who they cared about, and in this case, it is no different.

They weren’t out to get justice for the child who was abused, they were out to minimise the damage to the party, the movement, and to the abuser himself.

That much is clear from what I’ve read.

I don’t like Suzanne Breen – she is a contrarian with too many axes to grind for my taste – but she is going straight to heaven for this latest article.

Adams is finished – and despite what Squinter – who really hates him as evidenced by his srticle earlier this year – says, or the censored texts in the ATN – the people in WB that I meet are sickened by this. And are getting angrier and angrier.

Adams is scum, is one of the phrases I hear most. And thos who utter it are justified in that.

  7. Comment on Amid the tributes, don’t lose sight of the opponent of the physical force tradition
    on 2 January 2010 at 5:16 am

He said what needed to be said, and repeated it over and over again.

The republican physical force approach was a sin, was an abomination, was horrific and flew in the face of every and any sermon IRA leaders and members listened to as they attended mass each week.

A giant of a man. Sorely missed.

    Very sloppy, Belfast Gonzo.

You left out the final sentence:

    “Pip pip, old boy. Ratherr!”

Still, I’d have thought there were better ways of embarrassing Sinn Fein rather than making a murderer of yourself and invting attention from the inteliigence services.

Give the latter credit, they succeeded in ‘flooding’ the movement post Massarene – and it is a textbook operation.
