Comment on Adams feted in Boston…

And the rest of us on this blog. Great spokesman (s)
Makes me want to cash in the latter half of my ulster-scots identity if that’s the case.

Comment on Adams feted in Boston…

I hope he gives the shinners “traitors to Ireland” line.
Too many romantic ideas of ‘old ireland’ over there still I feel.
I think some of them need to catch up and realise for sure, to be sure, to be sure that Sinn Fein have wised up & moved on. Let’s see how many want to contribute now to a cause when it’s posters, leaflets & no longer the bullet. ( Not a slur against the Irish American Clover Club but there’s always someone eejit with ‘green’ tinted spectacles on )
Remember America, the soldiers that got shot at Masereene were shot going out to help your boys.

Comment on Realism over MI5 needed, not hypocrisy

Moderate Unionist,
While I accept this doesn’t resolve the NI Intelligence issue, in respect of Martina Anderson do you not feel there is SF hypocrisy where the Reserve Police Officers who were employed for specific roles due to the security issue get their contracts terminated. Then without even allowing the dust to settle public calls are made by SF for specially trained officers to tackle dissidents.
That my friend is hypocrisy.

Comment on The new threat of the post ceasefire dissident Republicans
on 11 March 2010 at 4:50 am
I saw in the Belfast Telegraph Online that Sinn Fein’s Dathai McKay was saying in reference to the Police that firstly, “There is obviously public concern about police response times for some incidents, and there is a duty on the Chief Constable and the PSNI to look at these.
Followed by
“If the PSNI is unable to adequately respond to these incidents, then it is worth considering looking at a specific unit or specially trained officers to deal with such issues. That could lead to better response times and decrease the risk to the public.”
Sounds like this isn’t just a job for the PSNI’s personal policing, caring Constables but is recognition something a bit sterner is required. Might we soon see support for Section 44 from his camp or even the British Army (I suppose they are the ones already de-fusing the dissidents malice). I wonder what other specific/specialist units they could provide to tackle dissident activity?
Someone pinch me or is it April Fool’s Day already?

Comment on Martin McGuinness and aggressive lecturing

But pippakin, no devolution of policing & justice for the lack of some manners. Not really a big win if it stays in London. Win, win for UUP.

Looks like the UUP-CONs will be reclaiming the DUP’s ground with this strategy. With the DUP being viewed by many of their voters as having sold out by sitting with Sinn Fein, the UUP can’t be said to have been two-faced to theirs.
Only thing is, where do we go from here and has Sinn Fein gone as far as they can go?
I can see a storm brewing, batten down the hatches.

I feel someone should support the PSNI as it is perhaps not quite the incompetent police force others here state but it is now a ‘civilianised police service’
This isn’t life on mars, time has moved and it’s 2010 and the the public’s getting what the public wants. No FTR, no soldiers but regular police officers doing community policing.
This is Newry not Fallujah. What sort of response did you all expect?
