Comment on The SDLP should decide which direction to jump

I believe that you are completely missing the point, probably deliberately so.If d’hondt was extehded,it would be the sdlp who would be next to nominate, giving us 2 ministers in the executive,if d’hondt is completely re-run,we would have 2 ministers in the executive.

Comrade Stalin,it didn’t take the Alliance party long to abandon its principled opposition, when the sniff of a ministry came, they faded like snow off a ditch, they even tried haven spoken on one of their motions to withdraw it before a vote,so it wouldn’t look to be criticising those could endow it with a ministry its votes do not merit. If you are so concerned about abstentionism why would you not tell that to the only party that actually practises it.

thats for me to know,I am aware that I am not the only one who believes that we should be fully in or fully out,not trying to keep a foot in both camps.I expect our new leader to lead,

Democrat, the point is that it is not a demoratic procedure,it is in fact a corruption of democracy.the assembly was elected using proportional representation, and the executive appointed by proportional representation, and now we are to move away from ptoportionality to what amounts to patronage.
It is rich saying that the sdlp should show less regard for their own advantage, are you thick, nobody stands for election and tells people not to support them .It is the SF/DUP who should be showing leadership and fairness.

Brian Sinn Fein are behaving like the pigs in animal farm, they used to tell us that we all had to respect their mandate, but they now refuse to respect ours ,by departing from d’hondt for the allocation of the justice ministry they have given the DUP a veto.I can imagine the slagging we would have got if we had denied them a position that their mandate entitled them to.
Either our mandate is fully respected or we should pull the plug and go into oppposition.
We should only participate as equals ,if the DUP & SF dont treat our voters with the same respect that they treat their own,we are either equal or we are not.

Fabianus,no I am simply making a statement of fact – that there is a group of people in society adopt an attitude towards people they think are inferior to them.I am saying that I believe all are created equal and therefore nobody is either more or less important than me.No matter what any human being does for a living or has in possessions-all are of equal dignity. Some may not always step up to face their responsibilities, that does not make them any less human.

When in Rome and all that.I deplore attacks on anybody, the government must step up to the plate, if people want to be a part of our society then they are welcome as long as they abide by the rules of that society.Equality by it’s very nature means that all are subject to the law of that society,

Spot on. Working class people are looked down on with disdain by many in this society, frankly I dont care what they think of me.I believe that all men (and women) are created with seperate roles but equal dignity by God.
A bricklayer is as important as a doctor in that he is using his talent in the best way he knows.
I am equal to the pope , the queen and the man who brushes the streets.
The only reason we have class is because their ancestors took it by force from mine, and I reject their legitimate right to anything they do not earn or the opportunities they had because of their ill gotten wealth.

Paul Kielty,Iwould welcome any investigation that would bring to justice anyone who abused their positions to abuse or cover up abuse ,The SDLP is not the political wing of the Catholic Church.I put myself before the people at elections and I seek all their votes.
In relation to your point about the SDLP being quiet about clerical abuse- that is a lie, and you know it,either that or you dont watch tv,listen to the radio or read the papers.SDLP reps have been on tv including the leader ,calling for an investigation in the north, questions have been asked in the assembly about it.You are clealy talking through your backside ,possibly because you are so fixated with an anti SDLP bias that you didn’t listen to what Mark Durkan and Carmel Hanna were saying. You say that the SDLP painted itself as the party for decent Catholics, never once have I even used the word in any campaign I have ever been a part of.
It is my view that SF have questions to answer. It is also my view that you by alleging that The SDLP “suppressed”anything are being not only dishonest but downright hypocritical by defending SF in supressing this. You obviously didn’t read the statement from Ms Cahill on Slugger.
You perhaps should join Perversional Sin – Fine
