  1. Comment on Without a new approach to Education, the Minister is condemned to micromanaging micro outcomes…

Cynic is correct and I have got lambasted on this site before for promoting that idea. The business of the government should not be control, although the power mad who become politicians will never accept that. The business should be facilitating and provision, we need politicians who serve rather than rule. I support the view that parents are the prime teachers and they should decide the education they need for their children.his need. The business of the government should be facilitating this need. They should not be dictating.

Brady is absolutely correct to withstand the mob. He did exactly what anyone in that particular situation would have done.

  3. Comment on The Brendan Smith case and the church’s strange relations with the power of law
    on 4 May 2012 at 5:26 pm

It would be an injustice for the cardinal to resign, and he should resist it, the baying mob should not be sated. He was not at fault and should not take the blame for others.

  4. Comment on Belfast Telegraph to drop evening edition, while News Letter may (not) go weekly?
    on 16 April 2012 at 10:19 pm

I would have thought the evening edition would be a better bet than a morning edition, perhaps that explains why I am not a media magnate

  6. Comment on To Benedict, we Irish liberals are not going away you know…
    on 14 April 2012 at 3:42 am

There is something in the theory that the Irish Church is playing catch up. The Church is turning back from the disastrous interpretation of Vatican 11 and moving towards a more Traditional interpretation. These priests and religious, and yes, their supportive lay, are behind the times. The SSPX are close to sealing a deal, the only stumbling point seems to be how ecumenism is defined, with the 16th of the month, (April), being named as decision day. The liberal window of opportunity has passed them by.
The seminaries are now starting to produce a less liberal, deforming, cleric. We are all Traditionalists now. Asparges me hysopo et mundabor lavabis me et super nivem dealbabor [

  7. Comment on Is a reformed and elected Lords a serious ‘come back’ opportunity for the SDLP?
    on 28 March 2012 at 10:20 pm

How would this dig out help the SDLP? – if getting reps over to London was such a big saviour their “we will be there” campaign would have been a stormer. The evidence of the ballot box indicates that the nationalist voter does not give a damn about representation in London.

  8. Comment on #Budget2012: Rewarding Northern Ireland’s hard working families…
    on 22 March 2012 at 3:40 am

Mobile coverage on the A2 and A29 is a brilliant move, perhaps we can save up to afford the fuel to power our vehicles in order to take advantage of the great reception.

  9. Comment on A few thoughts on St. Patrick’s Day
    on 18 March 2012 at 11:08 pm

Carl – must have passed you on the mountain – it was a great day out for me and the family on our annual pilgrimage. I agree with the parading which is not to my taste. Howver on the religion side I do not. The whole point of the climb is religion. It is a commemoration and celebration of religion.
