Two Ards councillors join TUV

Two independent councillors have joined the TUV today: They are George Ennis, who is a former MLA for Strangford, and Terry Williams. Jim Allister welcomed the men saying he believed the TUV was becoming “the natural home for more and more principled unionists.” DUP Strangford MLA and Newtownards councillor Jim Shannon said it had been “no secret” that the pair had been supporters of Mr Allister. Arguably the most important part of this is that the TUV is beginning to gain members and representatives in areas where it was heretofore relatively small. Allister commented “Strangford is a strongly Unionist constituency and as we build TUV it is great to have on board these two new councillors. I look forward to working with them and together with the local Branch seeing the cause of Traditional Unionism flourish and grow in Newtownards and district.” Whilst it would be a very big ask for the TUV to take Strangford at Westminster they could cause some waves and if Iris Robinson does not stand at Westminster an internal fight for the candidacy between Michelle McIlveen, Jim Shannon and Simon Hamilton could add to the DUP’s problems.

  1. cor turgon, at this rate your party may well plunge us all back to war

  2. How much hatred for humanity can a person have that they’d join TUV? How blinkered, how narrow-minded, how bigoted and stupid can someone be?

Turgon, any thoughts? How did it happen for you? When did you decide that you despise people and devote your life to spreading division and negativity? Was it a Jesus thing?
Has anyone in TUV ever been abroad, I wonder? Have they ever heard a foreign language without recoiling in terror? If all of you clowns opened your minds just a fraction and saw yourself as others do, you would recognize the vile stupidity of calling yourselves “Traditional Ulster Voice” and the sad futility of forming another club of bigots who define themselves strictly in terms of how much red-white-and-blue they can put on a leaflet. You are so stupid you have no idea how stupid you look.

How many TUV members have ever studied science, at any level? None of them could even watch a David Attenbrough documentary without getting apoplectic.

The TUV is a party for fear-mongering jihadist cretins. There’s no excuse for the pure, willful ignorance you exhibit or for working for evil as assiduously as you do.everyone else’s.

  3. Woooh!

    Get off the fence Ben.

Anyhow, back in the land of the living,

Further fragmentation on the extreme right is to be welcomed. As you nibble away at one side of the DUP the Tory/UUP alliance will gain ground.

    The question though is:

What are these principles of which Jim Allister speaks?

Genuine question which will be subjected to serious scrutiny.

  4. ben,

That is such a brilliant post - I am still laughing as I type. Totally sums it up, but unfortunately it won’t cause the TUVies a moment’s hesitation. The only plus side is that they are so bloody awful that no observer can fail to be appalled by them and what they tell us about unionist bigotry.

  5. ben,
Just to answer. I decided to devote my life to spreading division and negativity shortly after I could crawl. The TUV is simply my latest vehicle for this noble aim.

I have been abroad (well no that is a lie: of course I have not). Indeed I regard the aeroplane as a device of unmitigated evil along with the boat and bicycle.

I have never heard a foreign language and actually do not believe that there is anyone who speaks them: I think it is a popish plot. Since I have never been abroad I have never met anyone who speaks in such a way. I accept that there are some odd people who come here in the summer and talk funny to one another. However, I find that if I ignore them they go away when the weather becomes bad (well actually it is always bad here).

I am proud to say that I know nothing about science except that it is also evil. I do not believe that David Attenbourgh exists, I think he is a holographic invention of the evil scientists.

As to how stupid and bigoted I am: well I am trying to match you but thus far I am a distant second.

  6. Didn’t George Ennis, principled unionist, leave the DUP in a huff after he was deselected in Strangford?

  7. ‘The TUV is a party for fear-mongering jihadist cretins.’

That one was worth the admission price alone.

Turgon, Any truth in the rumour that a prominent DUP Councillor in Killyleagh might be joining the TUV(or the FJCs as Ben mught call them)?

  8. Hard to find fault with Ben’s Post.  They’re a dangerous lot, Jimhadists are so dangerous they should be licensed.

There should be TUV monitoring vans and people knocking on doors to see if you have an uptodate TUV license, they could make them available at Post Offices.

Ben is also insightful regarding Jimhadists cramming red, white and blue on leaflets, perhaps the inspectors could check printing equipment in their houses, TUVites with older printers would only need a black and white TUV license, whereas someone churning out the full blown red white and blue leaflets on a modern printer would require a colour TUV license.

You’d only need one TUV license regardless of how many in the family were Jimhadists, but if one of the kids went off to bible university than they’d need to get their own TUV license.

  9. This is so much bullshit. Two nobodies join a fringe party and someone blogs. The biggest party in ni launches a major consultation and not a person here is interested. What total shite. Why dont you get into the REAL world

  10. Is this ‘major consultation’ an inevitably doomed attempt to change the legal definition of a victim which is probably only being launched as part of a ‘stymie Jim’ strategy?

    Or am I unduly cynical?

  11. LOL,
    Jim-hadists….brilliant.

Wee Jeffrey Donaldson launching a “major consultation” to rework the definition of a victim…..oh please stop, I can’t take anymore, my sides are going to split.

Sounds spot on to me but, then again, perhaps we’re both unduly cynical.

  14. USA,
“Wee Jeffrey Donaldson launching a “major consultation” to rework the definition of a victim…..oh please stop, I can’t take anymore, my sides are going to split. “

I am pretty sceptical about Donaldson’s plan. However, it is actually more sensible than Gerry Adams launching assorted strategies to persuade unionists of the benefits of a united Ireland. Adams taking part in “huge outreach” to unionists is even more laughable. I suppose though for gullible cheerleader Americans it seems a sensible idea.

As opposed to the extreme right in the European Conservatives and Reformists and the Law and Justice Party in Poland ?

  20. has anybody read the DUP questionaire, its like their St Andrews one, only the right answer is acceptable and as long as you don’t try and point out the DUP F**Ked up at St Andrews your answer will be included otherwise clear of and join Sinn Fein

An wee jeffrey has the gall to be sponsorer - sure he’ll negoatiate the Tory support for the money on Policing and Justice and then join Cameron - he’s the next to jump

  21. Couldn’t,

“has anybody read the DUP questionaire”

I read it but didn’t fill it in. It asks for one’s personal details. I dunno, but having the DUP in possession of mine creeps me out a bit. None of their goddamn business.

  22. Whatever you think of the TUV (and I find it very hard to take), this thread has gone offensively downhill.  Even Turgon’s humorous riposte wasn’t enough to deflect the gratuitous bile. To quote Ben: “How blinkered, how narrow-minded, how bigoted and stupid can someone be?” - if the cap fits?

  23. DerTer,

I agree to a certain extent. It’s just that Jim Allister and his TUV are such caricatures they invite parody and mockery.

  24. there are people on this forum who have more contempt for the democratic opposition jim allister offers unionism, than the undemocratic murder that republicans are offered as an alternatives to sinn fein. i have no time for him or the TUV, but some people here need to get a grasp on reality, and ask themselves why they pour such bile upon a legitimate political position?
