The nation remembers
Across the United Kingdom memorial services to the dead of the World War and subsequent conflicts are taking place.
There are similar nationwide ceremonies in a number of countries across the world. In Dublin, Mary McAleese attended a Remembrance Day Service at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them”.

ââŚas Iâm obviously talking to a brick wallâŚânow, now, now. You should watch out for the refâs cards as this might be seen as âball not manâ. I think the polite expression would be âtalking at different purposesâ
ââŚIâve been to RBL events in NI, Iâve worn a poppy, and Iâm not a ProtestantâŚ.âOne swallow doesnât make a summer. Iâve been to Protestant services but I donât think it (or any religion) seek to portray itself as appealing across communities. Altho the Protestant church I was at, and most religions in NI, do approach other religions in friendship. The RBL doesnât approach non Protests, as a whole or grouping, in NI in any way, shape or form.ââŚSo, believe it or not, it can be done. âAAaahhhrr, what can be done? Catholics can go to a RBL serviceâŚI know that!! My point is the RBL in NI doesnât try to include almost half the population in NI; this is accepted by both sides in NI.
