Postcards have influence too..

When not campaigning for the Secretary of State for Wales, etc’s hoped-for next job, the remaining NIO ministers have other responsibilities.  For Maria Eagle that means being Criminal Justice Minister for Northern Ireland - a role which a NIO Minister will continue to perform until the Assembly agrees otherwise. Her first statement in the role was on Monday, when she launched a new retail crime prevention initiative in Belfast.. which seemed to involve handing out ‘Don’t Discount Crime’ postcards.. Of course, should there be suspected paramilitary involvement in that crime, those retailers might also have to wait for the police to talk to “those who have influence”.. [Or they just cut out the middle-men? - Ed]
