Obama’s message comes to Ireland
Priceless, from today’s Irish Times letters column (H/T Francis):
Madam, The Obama effect is spreading. When you pay for your parking ticket in Dundrum shopping centre, an automated message comes up which reassuringly reads Change is possible. Yours, etc,
AIDAN DOWLING, Ranelagh, Dublin 6.

“Change is possible”.
Not on the bus.

Don’t worry. They’re all being cut anyway, so soon you’ll be obliged to drive ...

Or cycle, or walk, or stay at home (which will be easier for a lot of people cos they’ll be unemployed anyway!)

Posted by on Jan 21, 2009 @ 12:30 PMjust saw that letter in the Irish Times online. LMAO :)
Posted by on Jan 21, 2009 @ 12:54 PMPerhaps that’s where Obama’s campaign manager lifted his slogans from? “Yes, We Can” is the answer you get when you tell them they can’t clamp your car. Sí se puede, indeed.
Posted by on Jan 21, 2009 @ 01:49 PMWe may need all the spare change we can get if the reaction of the stock market carrion to the possible threats to regulation of excessive greed, hinted at in Obama’s speech yesterday and as evidenced by the closing Dow-Jones average, is any guide.
Time perhaps to resurrect that great old hit of yesteryear:
