“No blockade on McNarry meetings”

Having expressed concern yesterday [see end of clip] that Stormont Live might fall foul of the Trade Descriptions Act, no wonder Jim Fitzpatrick and Mark Devenport played the introduction of UUP MLA David McNarry’s private member’s bill twice.  It’s his second [scroll down] and the Community Use of School Premises Bill passed its first stage today.  On the show he makes the case that other MLAs, and Assembly Committees, should follow suit.  The discussion does throw up a great line from Mark Devenport [3min 37sec in].

“This makes the McNarry kitchen table the main legislative factory here for Northern Ireland..”

Indeed..

  1. “This makes the McNarry kitchen table the main legislative factory here for Northern Ireland..”

That’s the best euphemism for the Loyalist Commission that I’ve yet heard.

  3. Both of mcnarrys private members bills will be binned by the assembly though as they aren’t practical or desirable.

  4. No offence to David McNarry who is actually trying to do something but .........stock markets tumble, recession looms, companies fail, jobs go, prosperity is threatened and people stand to lose their homes and savings. And the best this shower we elect and employ can come up with is this. And even then it wont pass because the Assembly wont be able to agree. This is beyond parody.
