Castlereagh councillor quits
DUP Castlereagh councillor Charlie Tosh has resigned from the party citing a row with another councillor and dissatisfaction with the public relationship between Paisley and McGuinness.
Fair Deal @ 04:41 PM
Where has Cllr Tosh been sleeping over the past 5 months!!
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 04:48 PMAnother Unionist dinosaur bites the dust.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 05:00 PMAny significance that even uber-disciplinarian, Peter Robinson, can’t control his backyard any more…
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 05:05 PMIt’ll take an MLA resigning before anyone can really claim this is a major problem for the DUP. Most of the councillors who have quit were heading for the scrapheap anyway- with the RPA changes due to take place, it’s unlikely many of them would have been continuing as councillors anyway. If they do decide to run, they’ll just be sweapt aside by the new DUP candidate in each of their respectives areas.

Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:00 PMCharlie Who ?
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:01 PMTheres mutiny in the Free Prespyterian Church. A vote is coming in September which could see the moderator forced to step down or voted down. People are not happy with what they see.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:14 PMVoting for Moderator in the FPs? Are you serious?
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:25 PMPeople are not happy with what they see.
The Neanderthals weren’t happy either when Homo Sapiens first arrived in Europe but that’s life. Things move on and some people just get left behind.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:27 PMWhat do you mean jo my canadian friend? Paisley has always held it, but always by vote. Not this time tho.....
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:35 PMI didn’t know that unhappy. I just assumed (not always, if ever, smart) that he had appointed himself for life.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:41 PMNope.....
The Free Church is not happy with their moderator going into government with terrorists. Mr Paisley should step down voluntarialy.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:44 PMor be pushed!
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:48 PM“heaven knows I’m muzrable noy “ .. The smifs
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 06:59 PMThis bog is another example of people going of at a tangent, what has Dr Paisley’s position in the FP Church got to do with Mr. Tosh resigning from the DUP I do not think he was or is a member of the FP church. He has stated clearly that he has a difference with the DUP as a party and them going into government well he is entitled to his opinion as is everyone else but as far as I am concerned he should have resigned from the Council as well it would have been more honorable
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 07:26 PMWhat party did he resign from?
Who is the head honcho of that party?
Is the head honcho of that party not the moderator?
What party is described as the DUP at prayer?
What is the reason given for the resignation is it not the relationship between McGuinness and Paisley?
Is that not dissatisfaction with Paisley going in to government with McGuinness an IRA godfather.
Who is the extremely stupid poster at 8.26?
Now go ask your mother to change your nappy.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 07:49 PMAnd thus the coming darkness falls across the bright plains of Ulster. The day of reckoning is at hand. Councillor Tosh leaves a grievous wound in the side of our once beloved party and church. I can hear, now, the screams and wails, as the flames of Hell lick around the sinners in the pit of sin that is Stormont. There will be no relief. Councillor Tosh is the last pillar in this now wretched party. His name will be etched in history as a man of priniciple, a man of God, a man of debt and a man who knew which side his bread was buttered, but not which side was toasted.
Amen. And God Save The King.
Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 09:00 PMunhappy?
I’m unhappy, hope you’re unhappy too.
I’ve never done good things, I’ve never done bad things.
I’ve never did anything out of the blue.
Oh no.

Posted by on Aug 30, 2007 @ 09:42 PMCain presumably is taking the mick. My info tells me that Charlie Tosh was unhappy because he lost some votes over local issues when his party colleagues didn’t back him. This has more to do with local factors than any sudden anti-St. Andrews surge of blood to the head on Councillor Tosh’s part.
Move on folks nothing to see here........

“This bog is another example of people going of at a tangent, what has Dr Paisley’s position in the FP Church got to do with Mr. Tosh resigning from the DUP I do not think he was or is a member of the FP church.”
Sorry, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Dr. Fealty’s website should not be called a “bog”. It’s actually quite buoyant and protean compared to others of its sort.
As to your slur on Dr. Paisley. I have it on good authority that Dr. Paisley was, and is, a member of the FP Church. And what Dr. Tush does in his spare time should be no concern of ours.
Posted by on Aug 31, 2007 @ 01:18 AMComing from a source like Ginfizz that line is quite interesting because its not in his interest to defend the DUP. This has happened before when a local councillor has a disagreement in council and then resigns with a parting shot

From what I hear you’re correct. He has had a long running dispute with another Councillor which actually led to his resignation.Mind you - stick a microphone under a nose and its immediately some grand political strategy which has annoyed him.
Not that a Councillor would ever want to seem more important than he really is of course.....
Did Cllr Tosh express any dissatisfaction about St Andrews at any meeting? Did he voice any dissatisfaction when the DUP carried out its consultation amongst members? Does he even mention St Andrews or anything to do with it in his resignation letter?
Those are questions which might throw some more light on his reasons for resigning.

All relevant questions and one imagines the answer to all of them is no. It’s exactly the same as Calvert in Lisburn - he jumped because he didn’t get some civic position or something and then tried to palm it off as anti-St. Andrews bravery.
Posted by on Aug 31, 2007 @ 10:38 AMMy my is there no work to be done at Dundela this morning boys?
“Coming from a source like Ginfizz that line is quite interesting because its not in his interest to defend the DUP.”
Not in his interests? He’s only one of the biggest DUP trolls on this site. I presume he’s another of the HQ team - as with all these new Special Advisors, everyone seems to be getting a job these days - otherwise I’m sure their boss wouldn’t be too impressed with the time they spend on here!
“All relevant questions and one imagines the answer to all of them is no.”
One imagines? Is that the best you’ve got? No facts, no proof of your claims, just imagination from Ginfizz!
