BlogTalk: have we a deal, or not?

Tonight begin the very first instalment of blogtalkradio in Ireland on Slugger O’Toole. Each week it will take the form of a hour long programme looking specifically at the complex world of Northern Irish politics. It goes live at 9pm, but will be archived and ready for download within a half hour of its online broadcast.

The first show features Pete Baker, long term slugger blogger and, some say, scourge of the Secretary of State for Wales, etc…(don’t look at me, Peter Hain’s only ever given me good things… scroll down)  David Ford, leader of the Alliance Party… talking about whether we have a deal or not… and Alan Levy, CEO of Blog Talk Radio explaining what it’s all about… Hosted by yours truly…

  1. Mick,

Many congrats - well done on your first outing for Slugger radio. Great stuff. Guess what - I have a vision of Tangled Radio - where we can eat liberals live on-air!

  3. PS

Well done to David Forde - I think he spoke intelligently, sensitively and interestingly. I’m not likely to convert to Alliance BUT it shows the benefit of this kind of forum for discussion. I’m sure David is well used to the instant soundbite of the MSM - and this is much more interesting. Congrats again and Tangled Radio is already on it’s way!

Can we expect American talk radio with Northern Irish accents, or are you going to do something original ?

  5. Hey Comrade,

What’s wrong with American talk radio? Since I am the only ATW writer with an NI accent, I think you may find originality is implicit.

I think Mick deserves much plaudits for once more showing imagination in developing new forms of inter-reaction. The line about eating liberals on air was a joke, you know. We’d roast them first.

  6. Mr Vance
I have a vision of Tangled Radio - where we can eat liberals live on-air!  Charming.

Well that’s my liberal reputation damaged for ever.

Seriously, I am glad you appreciated it.  We can at least agree that this sort of forum creates a different mood to the 2 mins 30 seconds of a GMU piece.

  7. David,

Indeed. Civilised debate - and thoughtful discussions, are rare in NI and I commend you for your contribution on Slugger Radio.

Tanged Radio - as quoted above - will commence shortly and I would be very interested to discuss matters of substance with you -not really the tribal stuff which bores me.

A Tangled Web, and Tangled Radio, put forward broadly libertarian/conservative opinions, and I am interested in some of Alliance thinking on these topics.

My view is that the MSM is a hothouse which prevents informed debate - perhaps new media can offer new possibilities!

    Best Wishes,

    David Vance
