Banning terror videos - an impossible task…?

ALLIANCE leader David Ford has called for YouTube to remove “videos promoting the activities of illegal organisations” (like these UDA ones) from the popular website. But they’re everywhere, not just YouTube. Above is just one well-produced IRA propaganda video on LiveLeak, for example.

Belfast Gonzo @ 01:35 PM

  1. http://www.sinnfein.ie > merchandise section.

Now that’s full of lovely juvenile merchandise jokingly glorifying all sorts of sensitive situations.

Ah warms the cockles of republican hearts it does but any wonder why such ethnic antics didn’t go down so sweetly with the Republic’s electorate?

  3. Thanks for that Gonzo, makes me nostalgic for the old days, bouncing around in the back of the Hiace.

  4. That should read ‘carrying the the AK-47 variant actually had to shoot the thing he’d find his own nose burnt off’

Just before anyone who takes offense at what Ive just pointed out attempts to attack my grammar.

    Still..eejit.

As long as people remember that the Hiace is meant to have some kind of firing slots..such as windows or some kind of holes in the back.

It would have helped some people in Hiaces in times gone by.

  6. DC, work is blocking access to SF site. (Wonder why?)

Are they still pushing that “undefeated army” t-shirt?

You take all the subtlety out of it young man....

  9. I’d have expected more from you Ingram than such a juvenile corner-boy response. Sure the favour was returned many times over i.e. air conditioning holes in tunics, walls, landrovers etc…

  10. Unionists can hardly complain about propoganda. The official media here have propogated British lies and innuendo for decades.

  11. Cahal

Damn right. How can anyone in their mind complain abouyt a video where the guy holding the gun appears (slight blur excepted) to be likely to injure himself if he ever had to use it.

Propoganda’s funniest videos, £100 winner that.

  12. That is one slick piece of propaganda.
Wonder who the intended audience was and how widely it was disseminated.

  13. Is the voice-over that of our current Minister for Education?

  14. DCC,

On reflection, the comment was in bad taste and is withdrawn.

That vehicle contained by loyal and dedicated soldiers, misguided but non the less dedicated men with a clear belief .

    Sorry.

  15. >>That is one slick piece of propaganda.<<

Did ye used to say the same thing about the nightly news reports during the troubles Joe? If not why not?

This video just tells the story of the troubles from a Republican perspective. A no-nonsense professional production. Sure the IRA takes enough kickings on here.

  16. One shouldn’t really blame David Ford for advocating such censorship. As abysmal as these UDA/UVF videos are (and, boy, are they and then some!)even he must fear that such idiocy is more than competition for the drivel of Alliance propaganda.

  17. Prince

Maybe you could point out where I kicked the IRA?
In fact I complimented their publicity machine.
Or are you saying that propaganda from that source is to be automatically equated with lies?

    Posted by  on Aug 22, 2007 @ 08:26 PM
  18. Joe

I never said that YOU were kicking the IRA, it was a general comment. I was questioning YOUR use of the word propaganda, thus why I asked about the narrative presented to you nightly on your TV screen for yonks.

  19. Prince

Obviously the word propaganda has a negative connotation to you; not so to me.
Regarding TV narratives (or those of other media), I long ago learned to treat them with a little pinch of salt.

  20. Nice bit of terror-vision from Sinn Fein IRA. Funny they didn’t show any of the innocent victims. Children without fathers and mothers. People with limbs missing. The people they tortured. Ethnic cleansing along the border with the murder of Protestants. But sure all of it makes the DFM very very proud.
