A ‘Starry Plough’ tattoo: well, who knew?
A reader sends in this snippet from one of a plethora of myth busting blog posts on the case of Sarah Palin. “Yes, it appears that she has a Big Dipper tattooed on her ankle. She lost a bet.” Ahem, Big Dipper = Starry Plough. Surely Máirtín should be told!
Adds: It’s something to do with this flag, rather than that flag.

Who gives a f$@* what’s she’s got tattooed or strapped to her person. As long as it’s not a king Billy tattoo society can sleep well at night.
Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 04:10 PMI wonder if he thinks that Photoshop of Palin in a bikini holding a gun is real or does he know that it a nasty smear job by Democrats?
Personally, I think it should be illegal for any female over UK dress size 12 to wear a bikini, but there you go…
Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 04:28 PMStarry Plough is one of the symbols of Alaska. Issue closed. ;-)
Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 04:36 PMBy the way, if the Democrats think it is okay to reduce Ms Palin to a gender stereotype and to imply that she should not be taken seriously because of it, is it okay if Republicans put our posters of Obama as a face-painted minstrel? Of course it isn’t okay to manipulate stereotypes that impact negatively on an enormous number of people, and the difference is that Republicans actually play fair and Democrats are just a bunch of nasty hypocrites who will use any angle to gain votes no matter how unethical or destructive it is to others. This smear camapign against Palin is going to backfire on them, and badly.

Paging Karl Rove, paging Karl Rove…

That Karl Rove?

MTV piles on the Palin family; host Russell Brand promotes Obama, bashes America, Bush, and Christians;
By Michelle Malkin • September 7, 2008 10:53 PMScroll down for updates…transcript added…the Associated Press gives two thumbs up, naturally…
Obama’s Viacom thugs strike.Reader M.G. writes that the MTV Awards show was the latest venue for vicious Palin family-bashing:
“I know a few people at Viacom and I tuned in to see the MTV music awards tonight. I was disgusted and appalled when the British host Russell Brand started begging America to vote for Barack Obama. Like his opinion matters. He’s not even a citizen. What’s worse is that he attacked Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter. He made a snide joke that her baby was not a boy or a girl, but a P.R. stunt.”Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 05:19 PMI was kinda hoping that Russel Brand would be a sucess over there so that they would keep him over there.
How do comedians that are not funny keep getting work.
How do politicians that dont do anything keep getting elected.
Russel Brand calling for America to vote for Barack Obaman would probably cost Obama a few %points if the Americans knew who that twit Brand was.Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 06:27 PMDo voters know her links with the irish labour movement? As the INLA vowed to shoot those who engage in anti-social behaviour within their communities recently. Maybe Palin is really trying to secure thos rifle using, god fearing rednecks who unbelievably have a say in who should be the most powerful figure in the world. The opportunity to shoot those who break the law, surely thats a vote winner in a few states.
Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 06:28 PMIf we are lucky this will be a career sinker for Brand.
Posted by on Sep 08, 2008 @ 06:39 PMSince it’s relevant (and also because I’ve always wanted to do this):
What’s this got to do with Northern Ireland?
Considering the plethora of posts on Palin and this election may I timidly suggest that, while the more frivolous posts provide light relief from weightier matters elsewhere, there should be at least a few placed in the context of the emerald island to the east of the USA.
If I may be so bold as to offer a loose definition of what that relevance might be, let’s say domestic matters in the USA that have an effect on both parts of the island and present and future foreign policy of the USA.
For instance, how do the nationalization of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and the lumbering of the American taxpayer with $5.3 trillion in new debt affect its economy and by extension the economies across the water? What type of system is being created? Should we now refer to Comrade Bob from Boston?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/sep/09/freddiemacandfanniemae.subprimecrisis1
And what about foreign policy? Many commentators here have argued for one candidate over the other, but is it not the case that whoever is elected there will be more of this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAM84uXBd5k
And if that is the case, does it not follow that those who are arguing for these candidates are willing accomplices in incidents like the above?
And yet these are the same commentators that have no problem expressing moral outrage on incidents located closer to home.
The level of cognitive dissonance displayed by some commentators is astounding.

Posted by on Sep 09, 2008 @ 08:07 AMfox news ran a smear campaign against obama that went along the lines of: “would you trust some one who smokes?” i wonder will they do the same for palin, like: “would you trust someone with a tatoo?”
