Live Sex Shows – the new price of contraception in America?
So suggests Rush Limbaugh: A professional political gas pipe without peer.
America’s reigning Shock Jock supreme, Limbaugh’s enormous national political influence is feared by Republicans, loathed by Democrats, and adored by his daily audience of over 20 million listeners.
If Rush Limbaugh is not the de facto leader of today’s GOP, who is?
The power and importance of his daily noise is best captured by the silence it generates. When Rush, the single Republican with the largest loyal following in the country, can say the following without one – at time of publication – Congressionally elected Republican speaking out in condemnation, it’s a revealing day. For shame.
“So, Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis. Here’s the deal. If we’re going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch”
In case Limbaugh’s reference to Miss Fluke is unclear to you, some background. Sandra Fluke is the Georgetown law student who was earlier in the week denied the ability to address the hearing reviewing the issues surrounding contraceptive access and coverage provision under the new health insurance law. During the three hour hearing not one single woman was given the platform to address the congressional committee and attendant national media.
An iconic image captured the scene as the five male religious testifiers addressed the male committee chair Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) – while Miss Fluke, and every woman in America, had to settle for a spectator’s role.

@11:18 am
Again, thanks.
Does this abuse go beyond Fox regulars?
@ Harry,
“I don’t care.”
That’s the mantra of the right. All I needed to know, thanks. BTW, the problem is that the proposal by the right is to permit ALL employers, Catholic or not, to refuse medical coverage on moral grounds, which opens up a crazy can of worms only the right could come up with.
No one would force Catholics to take contraception, or the Catholic employers to test it out first – the law would give the option to take it or leave it, how do you get ‘oppressive’ from providing the option of medical aid for women? (again, in big letters so you can see it: CONTRACEPTION IS FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES, NOT JUST SEXUAL PROMISCUITY).
Why is the Catholic church against women being covered for medical contraception? Why does the boys club get to decide on women’s issues, whilst anyone attempting to speak out on behalf of women is censored by the right, and insulted by the likes of Limbaugh. The right are simply anti-women, and the article shows that in all it’s glory.
It’s worth mentioning that 75% of U.S. Catholics believe the church should allow the use of contraception, (2005 Gallup poll – and that number probably has gone up since then). So even the actual people affected by this, want the free contraception, making it – what’s that word – DEMOCRATIC.
“Why is the Catholic church against women being covered for medical contraception? Why does the boys club get to decide on women’s issues, whilst anyone attem…blah blah blah”
I am not a spokesman for the Catholic church, why they believe in something is not my concern. I do care deeply about governments enforcing their ideology on people who disagree with them.
It’s called freedom of conscience, I know the left abhors any freedom that is not handed down by government officials but some of us feel rather strongly about freedom of worship, conscience, association and speech.
“Does this abuse go beyond Fox regulars?”
No, I think you’ll find its against anyone who opposes the left wing agenda, why don’t you spoil yourself and buy Michelle Malkin’s well-researched book “Unhinged”, it’ll be an eye-opener for you.
Harry, “I do care deeply about governments enforcing their ideology on people who disagree with them”
But it’s a fact (remember facts?) that the people WANT the contraception, even over 75% of Catholics, the only ones who don’t want the govt to provide free contraception are the Church elders (and maybe the poor, poor rich folk, who are happy enough for their tax dollars to go towards viagra, vasectomies and silly things like the maintenance of roads people use to get to work), are you actually saying that only Church elders and the rich should dictate public policy – I’m sure there’s a word for that…
I have no interest in debating why the Catholic Church does something, it’s their right to stick by their morality as they see it.
The US government – remember the doctrine of separation of church and state?- has no right to force citizens to abjure their religious principles.
God, this is getting so tiresome Mickles, what part of this basic principle of human rights and freedom of religion do you have difficulty comprehending?
Is the US government entitled to order Muslim institutions to sell alcohol and bacon sandwiches?
Poor Harry:
“Is the US government entitled to order Muslim institutions to sell alcohol and bacon sandwiches?”
There’s the false equivalency that’s so typical of the right when they can’t properly justify something. Trying to equate a women’s health issue with forcing Muslim institutions to sell bacon and alcohol is ludicrous and really shows up your flimsy argument, and you know it. They are in no way the same thing.
Bottom line is that the elders of the Catholic church want to deny women the proper health benefits they deserve and are entitled to, and, surprise surprise, employers like the sound of being able to deny coverage based on vague ‘moral’ objections to save them a quick buck and keep the working woman down, despite the fact that in the long run, free contraception benefits all of society, who are free to use or not use it as their moral compass dictates (hint: most use it). Under the right’s proposal, the poor get no choice because the contraception wouldn’t be available.
And quit with the “but it’s so cheap everyone can afford it” line – the rich never have to worry about money, but if you ever had to choose between paying rent and eating, maybe you would appreciate the predicament some people can be in, simply because they don’t come from a well off background. It’s like that Fox news host who says poor people can’t be poor because they have a refrigerator.
“The US government, has no right to force citizens to abjure their religious principles”
- come out of the bubble Harry – remember the facts: OVER 75% of CATHOLIC citizens WANT contraception.
It would seem that you do indeed think a handful of Church elders should dictate public policy to all. Shameful. So sad that you don’t see the hypocrisy.
“Is the US government entitled to order Muslim institutions to sell alcohol and bacon sandwiches?”
Beer and bacon butties have nothing to do with health care provision, stop being stupid.
My wife was prescribed the pill to help with PMS over 10 years ago, the opinions of sexless and sexist males should have no bearing on her healthcare decisions.
@ 12:14 pm
Just looked up the Malkin book. 170 pages of text (nearly suitable for the “large print” shelves) costing 10p a page. Lots of appended material available for free elsewhere. Seems like something I can miss on.
Would eyes be opened by “journalism” of this quality? –
“Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Ow. Phew. Let me catch my breath. I just heard about the launch of the Obama administration’s new “Truth Team.”
(Which is, in truth, the same thing as Attack Watch and all the other Obama snitch brigades created over the past three years.)
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahah.”
“Just looked up the Malkin book. ”
I saw her arguing for the return of internment camps for middle-easterners on a TV show.
She’s like Limbaugh, be ‘outrageous’, make money on book sales. People like that add nothing, best to just ignore and leave them to their mouth breathing audience.
@ Caesar Frankfurter
That quote makes my eyes hurt. Why would she need to catch her breath when writing?
Yea, the folks quoting the Daily Beast and The Blaze and the likes of Malkin kind of undermines the ‘liberal media’ accusation that gets hurled about at any organization who dares to use facts.
I wonder what these folks consider to be non-liberal media, (aside from the hyper partisan and self-admitted biased organizations such as those I mentioned, and of course Fox News).
Oh heavens you guys still don’t get it do you? You can not overthrow constitutionally enshrined rights simply on the basis of someone having problems accessing a form of medication.
If you go down that road where do you choose to stop? At what point do you simply overthrow all constitutional protections in order to help everyone who is in a tight spot?
Above we have Malkin being ridiculed for suggesting that internment of Middle-Eastern people would be a way of stopping terrorism and thus saving lives. She might have a point, I doubt it, but it’s no less ludicrous than the idea that the state can abolish freedom of conscience for one citizen in order to facilitate the well-being of another citizen.
Do you see how it works? Even if terrorists are threatening to attack people the government cannot simply overthrow constitutional rights, it must stick by the constitution, no matter how unfortunate the results.
Once you give the power to the government to overthrow centuries old constitutional protections to suit your particular political ideology you cannot then complain when a later government, a government you might not like, decides to overthrow other constitutional freedoms and safeguards to get through their particular pet projects.
I really, really hope this fundamental, some might say rather simple, principle is now understood by you all. It amazes me that rational people actually need to have such basic stuff spelt out for them.
@ 2:21 am
Is that relevant?
The Supreme Court protects “constitutionally enshrined rights”, and annually adds to them. Result: we know just how reactionary those fat cats lavishly financing super PACs are.
Who protects an individual smeared as a “slut” and “prostitute” on 600 radio stations nationwide? There is no point (but a lot of expense) in suing Limbaugh and Clear Channel, because the damage is done. Limbaugh can hide behind a non-apology which only comes after repeating his abuse over three successive days, and be punished by rising four dozen advertisers pulling sponsorship.
It’s OK to attack Fluke on her dubious facts.
It’s not OK for any organisation suddenly to discover moral or religious principles to exclude itself from legal obligations. If health insurance why not all other worker rights?
It’s political fair game to attempt to reverse the rules on health insurance. It may be unwise since the Kaiser poll gives two-to-one public support for contraception being included in health insurance.
What’s not OK is to impute extreme immorality to anyone who crosses the GOP opinion makers. That’s playing the girl and not the pill.
“Is that relevant?”
It’s the absolute rock-solid core of the argument, all the flimflam about Limbaugh and Fluke is irrelevant chaff.
This short video and analysis exposes the hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy of the Democratic party when it comes to women’s rights. Obama and the Democrats have become the party of hate.
“If you go down that road where do you choose to stop?”
Another right wing bleating point – the tired old mantra of ‘if we allow this, then what’s to stop that…’
“At what point do you simply overthrow all constitutional protections in order to help everyone who is in a tight spot?” – At no point Harry. No one has suggested this, you just made that up – the right frequently does this bit of verbal trickery, where they reduce the argument to absurdity to detract from the point at hand. No one is fooled Harry, stick to the point.
Whose rights are being violated here? The 75% + of US Catholics who WANT contraception?
Why do you want to deny coverage to women with Ovarian Cysts, which is one of the many medical issues that contraception covers? Why do you want to slow down the economy as women have to take time off work during a heavy or painful period? Are you so anti-women it blinds you to the facts?
*p.s. you do know that here in the UK women have free access to contraception and no one seems to have a problem with it.
@ PaulUK
That video exposes nothing, except the moral bankruptcy of whoever made it. Where do these Congresswomen say they agreed with Maher’s comments? Do you have a video of that?
If your argument is that Maher gave the DNC a million dollars, therefore the Democrats must agree with all his statements, well my friend, by that logic, the GOP agree with statements by their donors, which in this case includes white supremacists (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2007-12-19-3866702484_x.htm).
Therefore you are saying the GOP support the view of white supremacists? Dear me. That’s way worse than what Maher said.
By the way, Maher is a comedian, and if you can find any videos of Democrats standing by Maher’s comments or views, please do post them, meanwhile, here are the GOP candidates resonses to Rush (http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Elections/From-the-Wires/2012/0306/Where-GOP-candidates-stand-on-Rush-Limbaugh-remarks)
Hardly denouncing Rush outright are they?
“Whose rights are being violated here? The 75% + of US Catholics who WANT contraception?
Why do you want to deny coverage to women with Ovarian Cysts, which is one of the many medical issues that contraception covers?”
Oh Christ mickles you still don’t get it do you?
I don’t want to deny anyone anything. What 75% of Catholics say they want in an opinion poll is utterly irrelevant to the point.
Governments have no right forcing a religious institution to abjure their deeply held religious principles, separation of church and state is an absolute fundamental basis of the US Constitution.
I have beaten my head off a brick wall trying to get you to understand this absurdly simple principle, if you really haven’t grasped it by now mate, there’s little more I can do to enlighten you.
Mickles, a double standard pervades the Democratic party and the mainstream media. Limbaugh used inappropriate words when he lowered himself to the standards of the left, and he subsequently apologised. Left-wing liberals have said far more disgusting things about women than Limbaugh has ever done, but they have never apologised and are, in fact, protected in their misogyny by the Democrats and MSM.
Obama’s exploitation of this and other recent events in attacking private citizens belittles the office of president and has again shown his hatred, contempt and vindictiveness towards anyone who does not see things the way he does. He has made Americans more divided than ever before. Time for a change from the divisive radicalism of Obama’s America.
Religious institutions in the US enjoy TAX EXEMPT status. The properties, and businesses they run, are lost potential revenue that could pay for schools, roads, jobs, whatever. They get a free pass from the govt – I guess the separation of church and state only cuts one way eh? Beat your head off that. I wonder how much outrage would ensue if the Church lost it’s tax exempt status.
Given the free ride religious institutions get from the US govt – free contraception for employees is the least they could do, instead of using saved tax dollars to hide paedophiles. And again, avoid the question as you will – where in the thousands of years old bible does it say women shouldn’t have access to medical birth control?
“naked, and ye put around me; I was infirm, and ye looked after me”
So called Christians would do well to read their own books.
Pauluk you live in a fantasy land, I noticed your lack of evidence for you wild accusations.
I’m curious, what organizations do you think are the mainstream media – and what organizations are NOT mainstream media?
“Left-wing liberals have said far more disgusting things about women than Limbaugh has ever done, but they have never apologised and are, in fact, protected in their misogyny by the Democrats and MSM.”
– and your proof of this is where, you can’t claim liberals have said disgusting things and not show where? Where have Democrats protected them or are you just making this all up?
Mickles, there are none so blind as those who do not wish to see.
Here’s one more example, Mickles. You need to start doing your own research. But I suspect you really aren’t interested in facts.
Have a good one!
That’s an example? Of what?
You totally ignored the questions put to you, in your bubble. When and where did democrats stand by Bill Maher’s comments? WHERE? WHEN? Have you any proof the Democrats even heard any of Maher’s comments?
Some guy with a camera saying ‘cunt’ to a congresswoman in the street is in no way proof of anything other than the diversionary tactics the right use to draw attention away from their own bigotry. It’s well known how the right accuses the left of doing exactly what the right does on a regular basis.
I gave you a list of Republicans refusing to denounce Rush, and you provide no proof any Democrats supporting Maher.
And again, HOW does a person’s donation to a super PAC say that the candidate which the super PAC supports must adhere to the views of the donor? Because if that IS what you’re saying, then the GOP have radical white supremacist views, as white supremacist have donated to the GOP super PAC.
And your citing ‘hot air’ as a credible source? One glance at the homepage reveals what a wildly right wing site that is.
zzzzzzzz
Yea Paul, back to sleep in the right wing bubble you go, sleep and ignore the facts, you can wake up when Glenn Beck tells you what to say next.
Meanwhile, since the story on the atrocities committed by Joseph Kony are doing the rounds now, I thought it interesting to show those defending Rush this page FROM RUSH’S OWN WEBSITE, defending Kony, and attacking Obama for sending troops to help combat Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army:
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2011/10/14/obama_invades_uganda_targets_christians
Are you still convinced Rush is a good person and credible source of facts?
@ paul uk ,
‘there are none so blind as those who do not wish to see.’
All you have to do then is to stop not wishing and open your eyes , unwax your ears and stop looking at Fox News or listening to either the O’Reilly or Hannity or Beck gobshites lest you never get out of the ditch you’ve dug for yourself
You’ll love this, guys!
The story has moved on and the hypocrisy and double standards of the media, and Obama and his sycophants are now being repeatedly exposed.
What disgusting little people!
Just watch the movie…
Ah yes those oh so lovable, civil, caring lefties who are so outraged by Limbaugh’s comments. If the above wasn’t enough let us examine this doozie;
“Now it turns out that not only is Bill (“Sarah Palin is a c***”) Maher headlining a Dem fundraiser but that President Civility himself was due to attend the Radio & TV Correspondents’ Dinner and enjoy the late-night comedy stylings of Louis C.K.”
Louis CK, who he? Well he wrote this highly amusing and very civil piece of discourse:
“Louis C.K. says of Palin: “her fucking retard making cunt” and “the baby that just came out of her fucking disgusting cunt.”
Charming company Obama keeps.
@ Paul UK and HarryFlash
Sluggerites would like to know
Which of you two is the one sitting on the carpet and which is the idiot drone ?

How to win friends and influence people has never been high on the agenda of Empires . It’s the ‘power ‘ ye see and the money and the stuff etc etc
greenflag, Obama is the commander-in-chief. Take it up with him and the Dems.
Ah, Greenie, ran away from the Indonesia discussion just to post inanities here did you?
@ Harry Flashman & Paul uk
Ah the comeback kids again . Thanks for letting me know that Paul is the drone and Harry the carpet sitter.
BTW Harry -I would’nt call the mass killing of women and children an ‘inanity ‘ . Thats the kind of talk I’d expect from your hero the Limbo Mouth .
You should know by now that Greenflag never runs away should’nt you ? And I do recommend a read of Amy Chua ‘s ‘World on Fire ‘ .
Harry and Paul, you offer no explanation how Maher’s comments of calling a public figure a dumb twat equate with Limbaugh calling women who seek access to medical birth control sluts?
You’re saying that painting all women as sluts for seeking medical coverage that would help the economy in the long run, is the exact same as calling one public figure a dumb twat?
Maher isn’t calling Palin a dumb twat because she’s a woman, he’s calling her that for being a dumb twat, again, please do show proof to the contrary if there is any, I’ve a whole load of links that prove her dumbness.
The right always go to Maher for the false equivalency. Conservatives regularly go on Limbaugh’s show to kiss his ass, the right in the US take their marching orders from him, whereas if the left listened to Maher, pot would be legal, guantanamo would be closed, and there’d be no troops in Afganistan.
All these accusations and nothing to back it up but flimsy links to crazy, gold-hucking, apocalypse-survival-pack-selling, right wing lie-sites.
What about the “cunt” references Mickles? Are they ok?
Ms Fluke is not a private citizen, she is a political activist, campaigning for a political cause, volunteering to take part in a public political debate, to espouse publicly her political beliefs, on a political issue, in a political forum.
She is in other words a public political figure and as such is as fair game as any other public political figure.
As regards your obsession with Mrs Palin’s intellectual capacity, every “dumb” thing you can attribute to her I can match with idiocies from your idol Obama.
Well done on ignoring the facts inside your bubble again, and making the false equivalency beween the right painting women who use medical contraception as sluts, with one man who called a dumb twat a dumb twat and a cunt. It’s astounding that you can’t see how you’re avoiding the issue by constantly bringing up Maher, as if to say, “Rush is right to paint all women as sluts because Maher called one politician dumb”, like those are the same thing, and make the right’s war on women justified. How is calling someone dumb misogynist?
Then you hurl out the accusation that because I don’t agree with you I must idolize Obama. Because you have no argument, I must be part of some leader worship conspiracy. Tell me where I came across as idolizing Obama?
The topic is about Rush Limbaugh’s comments, not Obama’s, not Maher’s, yet because of your blind disdain for anything that might help women and the economy in general, you distract from the point. And now we see how vile Limbaugh is when he defends Kony – speaks to his character even more. Amazing that anyone calling themselves a human being could align themselves with such views, yet you do.
No matter how many times you say ‘political’ Fluke is in fact a private citizen, not that I expect you to accept facts. She is not a politician, if you have facts to the contrary, please present them. It’s not even about Fluke, it’s about how the right are anti-women, anti-poor, and against the economy going better. That’s why social issues are on the agenda again, the economy’s getting better so conservatives must talk about inane things that have been argued about decades ago, as they have run out of ideas for taking the next election.
Ok then, since you have yet to provide evidence of your much defended half-governor-reality-star’s intellect, and since you seem to think Maher’s comments are eqivalent to Rush’s, here’s my list – though I still don’t know what you obession with Maher has to do with Limbaugh’s stupidity, and how Maher’s comments are a defence of Limbaugh’s, nevertheless:
1. Paul Revere: “He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”
2. Invoking the phrase ‘blood libel’.
3. “Peaceful New Yorkers, pls refute the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers site is too raw, too real.” – actual twitter message.
4. “What the federal government should have done is accept the assistance of foreign countries, of entrepreneurial Americans who have had solution that they wanted presented … The Dutch and the Norwegians, they are known for dikes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills.” – Sarah’s solution to the Gulf Oil spill.
5. “Go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant — they’re quite clear — that we would create law based on the God of the bible and the Ten Commandments.”
6. “We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn’t that ironic?”
7. Writing words on her hand for a speech: “energy,” “budget” (crossed out and replaced with “tax cuts”) and “lift American spirits”, mere moments after demonizing the president for using a teleprompter, like ever other president since it’s invention.
8. “Who calls a shot like that? Who makes a decision like that? It’s a disturbing trend.” putting forward the idea that “In God We Trust” was moved to the edge of coins by the Obama administration (change made by Bush administration in 2007 – later reversed by Congress, before Obama took office)
9. “It may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: ‘Sit down and shut up,’ but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out.” announcing her resignation as governor.
10. “They’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.” – getting the vice president’s constitutional role wrong.
11. “As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.” – explaining why Alaska’s proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience.
Hha, so what are we to think of a man who couldn’t even get the facts straight in his own, yes his own, autobiography? Who sailed through an academic legal career without ever publishing any academic studies? Who indeed seems strangely reluctant to publish any of his academic records, such a genius he is.
Who got himself elected to a state legislature which he then dropped not before voting “present” (ie in the building but can’t be arsed to make my mind up) on dozens of legislative issues. Who didn’t realize that the charming hosts where he was launching his political career were former terrorists? Who had no idea that the preacher whose church he attended for twenty years, who baptized his children, was an out and out racist fruitloop? Shocked he was, shocked!
What is one to make of a man who gets his staffers to put up an obviously Photoshopped birth certificate for three years knowing every conspiracy theorist in the country has questions about it before finally getting around to posting the real thing? Political genius of the highest order. Who couldn’t seem to get the story straight about whether he saw Bin Laden getting shot live on webcam or if the pictures he produced of himself watching the incident were in fact not what he originally said they were? Odd fellow that.
We’ll leave aside his Palinisms like thinking there are 57 states in the Union, that Austrians speak Austrian, that his home state of Hawaii is in Asia, that naval medics are called corpse-men or that fallen heroes were present at one of his functions, we’ll just have to accept the claim he’s got the shrewdest mind since Dan Quayle on its own merits.
However if you really want to see what an eloquent statesman fully in control of all the issues looks like have a wince at this;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDJSVPAx8xc
At least Palin can speak off the cuff.
Oh, right, you’re in the tinfoil hat brigade, well let me put the birther issue to rest, since Donald Trump has been trumped on that bull, when you scan a document into Adobe Illustrator, it can auto-enhance the PDF by splitting it into layers using OCR. I know the right don’t want to hear facts, especially not when they peddle the frequently debunked thinly veiled racism of birthers, but there they are, further proof here: (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/265767/pdf-layers-obamas-birth-certificate-nathan-goulding)
So Trump can’t prove Obama is a Kenyan and he goes after the academic record, the exposure of which would do what exactly? He went to Harvard, what does Palin have, a communications degree. Nice.
He’s denounced the statements of Jeremiah Wright and left the Church.
And regarding the ‘terrorist’ thing you’re talking about, if you mean Bill Ayers, then tell me, what has Bill Ayers been prosecuted for, ever? Anyway here are the facts on that wild statement (hint: Obama has nothing to do with Bill Ayers, your points are false):
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/05/fact-check-is-obama-palling-around-with-terrorists/
And that’s a fun video of a teleprompter malfunction, but it means nothing here, you’re clutching at straws. Only an idiot would go into detail on important issues without a teleprompter, all presidents have used one since it’s invention. Palin literally speaks off the cuff as she writes on her hand.
See how far you’ve got from the topic though? All you care about is Obama bashing, but the issue of this topic is that a vile radio host, who the conservative politicians in the US fail to denounce, suggests women who seek access to medical birth control, something that helps women and the economy, are sluts. To distract from having to deal with this you bring up Bill Maher and bash Obama with ridiculous, widely debunked lies.
Now this pig ignorant, Kony-supporting blob, has made this a national issue, with Romney declaring he will de-fund planned parenthood if elected, and most of the candidates, and their mouthpiece Fox news, demonizing the federal funding of something that was funded by public money on a statewide basis anyway! Dumb.
Not sure what’s preventing my comments from being moderated, the gist is that I know the right don’t want to hear facts, but the truth on your (regularly debunked) claim about the photoshopped birth cert is here: (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/265767/pdf-layers-obamas-birth-certificate-nathan-goulding)
The President has denounced the controversial statements of Jeremiah Wright and left that particular Church – can the same be said of the right wing politicians who fail to distance themselves from Rush’s sentiments?
And regarding the ‘terrorist’ thing you’re talking about, if you mean Bill Ayers, then tell me, what has Bill Ayers been prosecuted for, ever? Anyway here are the facts on that wild statement (in short: Obama has nothing to do with Bill Ayers, your points are false):
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/05/fact-check-is-obama-palling-around-with-terrorists/
And that’s a fun video of a teleprompter malfunction, but it means nothing here, no public figure could, would or should go into detail on important issues without a teleprompter, all presidents have used one since it’s invention. Palin literally speaks off the cuff as she writes on her hand. Are you saying no one should ever read off anything, ever? You’re anti-education too? Seriously? What is your problem with preparation? The way Palin gets on, you’d think no politician should ever read anything!
See how far you’ve got from the topic though? All you care about is Obama bashing, but the issue of this topic is a vile radio host, who suggests women who seek access to medical birth control (something that helps women and the economy) are sluts. To distract from having to deal with this you bring up Bill Maher and bash Obama with ridiculous, widely debunked lies, indicating you agree with Rush, as does the republican party who have him as an honorary member of their caucus.
Now Rush, the Kony-supporting blob, has made contraception a national issue, and put it on the agenda of the republican candidates, with Romney declaring he will de-fund planned parenthood if elected, and most of the candidates, and their mouthpiece Fox news, demonizing the federal funding of women’s health.
Why do the right, particularly the well-off complain they shouldn’t be funding a non controversial issue like women’s health, yet ALL taxpayers have contributed to the upkeep of the infrastructure, and the tax breaks that have enabled the rich folk to get rich in the first place?
And finally, you can spurt nonsense about how it’s about religious freedom, but it’s not. If a Church is going to suck up tax dollars for charity, and enjoy tax free status on it’s businesses and properties, and if a Church is going to become an employer – they can provide the same healthcare everyone else has to. When you become an employer, what gives you the right to enforce your religious views on your employees? I’ll bet the right wouldn’t be so keen to allow Muslim employers to deny their employees health benefits based on vague moral objection.
