Hmmm – starting in a mo – got day off and having breakfast with NZ friends – NZ – Tonga….
As somebody who works at home, with the RWC now about to start, I am going to have to be “disciplined” for the next 6 weeks. Ha Ha
If anybody is reading this and tries to get me, they will know why there is a recorded message.
well, it can only get better after that…
New Zealand v Tonga
The All Blacks looked like a team in a place where nobody could touch them for about half an hour in the first half, such was their dazzling skill. In the second half, they seemed to fade and make a lot of errors. That wont give comfort to any of their future opponents. They had a commanding lead going into half time.
For me, New Zealand’s best player was Nano or Nanu who plays in the centre. He has a hairddo very similar to his great predecessor, Tana Umaga and looks a bit like him. Definitely a candidate for player of the tournament.
Crikey – that All Black scrum creaky. Chance for us all…
For anybody who missed last nights matches or did not manage to record them, the highlights of the rugby matches are on ITV player

Scotland and England had scares. England’s was the more nail-biting. Too close a shave…..
Wilkinson’s Sword got the better of his boot. Meanwhile, the English retailers are looing forward to a boom in the sale of hair dye.
Its me again.
I think there should be a competition to decide the best performed national anthem. The New Zealand choristers who sing the anthems before the matches in 4-part harmony are sounding rather heavenly. I never thought I could say that about “Flower of Scotland.”
Dewi
The methodology for determining the winner has been left out in your initial post. I suggest ten points for each correct answer and the person with the lowest number of points wins.
Now, Dewi, you are not to be mischievous and suggest that this methodology for arriving at a winner arises following England’s performance today. On the contrary, we always knew England were abysmal, and this is what I had in mind all along.
Oh dear. Gatland must be fuming.
What about you Dewi?
Dewi heroic failure! – thats an Irish specialty, personally I think its better to get thumped I recover from the pain much quicker
I’d rather get hammered – difficult to get up for Samoa….how we blasted lost that game i can’t understand
Awk sure,it’s only a game,huh ?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
As we enter the final straight

Game on
The first to the draw proved to be the best.
Given that there was no single player who dominated the tournament and nothing on the WC 2011 website , we’ll go with the RTE panel’s snap judgment of Richie McCaw which means:
Winner John with 50 points out of a hundred, runners up Pluralist and Mark with 40 points
Congratulations John you were half right, which is more than most on Slugger.
Your prize is a lie in next weekend., runners up can have a lie in on Saturday, and for the the rest of ye it’s fifty press ups.
(By the way, Ignore the preceding post as there are a couple of cut and paste typos.)
Thank you all thats 2 in a row now. It was a good world cup but it really was a chance in a generation blown by the Irish. New Zealand deserved it throughout the tournament but they were helped along the way by favourable refereeing – as usual. Cant wait for the 6 nations. Its going to be wide open. Hopefully Ireland will finally get rid of some of the dead weight (Mr Darcy) and we might start seeing some new exciting talent come through.
