ODI: Ireland v Pakistan
After a disappointing performance in the first One-Day International against Pakistan on Saturday, Ireland’s cricketers won the toss and elected to bat today at Stormont. And they’ve set Pakistan a solid target of 239 from their 50 overs. As the cricinfo report says,
A brilliant, belligerent century by Paul Stirling gave Ireland hope of levelling the two-match RSA Series in Belfast today.
An ODI win for Ireland against Pakistan, a full ICC member, could have implications for Ireland’s ICC World Cup 2015 hopes.
Cricinfo scorecard and ball-by-ball text here.
Ireland 238 for 8 from 50 overs.
Pakistan 242 for 5 from 48.4 overs.
Pakistan win by 5 wickets with 8 balls to spare. But a good performance by Ireland, and Paul Stirling in particular, to push Pakistan all the way.

was wondering where u were with the cricket blog..
fingers crossed ICC will allow 12 teams in WCC
maybe 16 with 4 groups of 4?
psst don’t mention ENG bowling SriLanka out for 82 !!
10 overs left.
Pakistan on 175 for 4.
Require 64 runs to win.
Pakistan have to be favourites at this point. But a couple of wickets could make all the difference.
5 overs left.
Pakistan on 210 for 4.
Require 29 to win.
It’s probably only a matter of time now.
Does faith apply in sport?
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.
