Bloody hell. That was careless. I have access to a live stream online from Sky, but it’s only showing NZ Sri Lanka..
Have they had the batting power play yet?
No.
There’s been the mandatory opening powerplay – first 10 overs, 81 runs. And the bowling powerplay by the Netherlands. But not the batting one yet.
It’s a big total to chase. But it’s still doable.
24 runs required from 30 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
This is the kind of match Ireland need to win to continue to make progress.
14 runs required from 18 balls.
Kevin O’Brien hits two sixes in the 48th over.
Ireland win.
Great Stuff,
Two wins for Ireland. Most respectable and nice to end up on a high.
I dont know if anybody is still interested in the World cup now that Ireland are out of it.
As I write, the last match of all first round matches (India v West Indies is progressing). India have qualified and currently lie second in Group B. West Indies have to win or have a run rate better than Bangladesh in order to qualify. India have set the W. Indies a very catchable target of 268. W. Indies are currently 119 for 2.
Now here is the bizarre bit. If India win, they stay in 2nd place in the table and face Australia in the next round. Australia lost their first World Cup match for 39 matches yesterday.
Does anybody really believe that India want to win the match against the W. Indies?
Jonathan Agnew has just said:
“They look totally flat, India. The fielding is flat and a lot of people in the crowd have left in the last hour or so.”
Perhaps the people in the crowd know something. Perhaps a Pakistani bookmaker is making a killing.
I just think it is ridiculous that they dont play the last round of both groups simultaneously.

West Indies now 168 for 7 from 38 overs.
Who wants to lose it more?
