World Twenty20: Ireland v England

As I mentioned last night, the West Indies rain-assisted win over England provides the slightest glimmer of hope for Ireland to progress to the next stage of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.  If they can beat England… If the match actually takes place… The rain at Providence, Guyana, has already intervened in the first match of the day.  Which side Duckworth/Lewis will benefit as Ireland take on England is anybody’s guess. Match due to start at 6.30pm.  Ireland win the toss and decide to field first!  Clearly hoping for that rain…  There’s live text coverage.  Cricinfo scorecard, and TMS radio coverage.  Update England total 120 for 8 from 20 overs. Ireland target 121. Now Ireland 4 for 0 from 1.2 overs. Rain delay… Play resumes. No overs lost. And Another rain delay. Ireland 14 for 1 from 3.3 overs. Updated Play to restart 9.45pm. New D/L target for Ireland 61 from 9 overs. But the rain’s returned. Final Update And that’s it. No more play. A ‘no result’. A point a-piece, and England go through on a superior run-rate. Great performance in the field by Ireland. Unlucky with the weather.
