Apologies for the delay in registering new commenters…

Tue 16 March 2010, 5:16pm

This is partly to do with me being in a different time zone (ie, Washington) and partly to do with a spam attack on our registration process. It has nothing to do with the 4IP funding, as the Atticus column in the Sunday Times has suggested. In fact we hope that when the new site is with us in the next few weeks, that it will speed up and open up the commenting process more than it has been in this slow, slightly ‘provisional’ state we’ve been in for a few months now…

Have you got an ETA for the new site yet? You have been saying “in the next few weeks” since before Christmas :)

It’s what happens when you have a pay master, people have the right to complain, and as to being in another time zone (aren’t we all:-) how long have you been there, and what does that have to do with the longetivity of the registration process which has been in operation for some time? Unles you went off around the time of registration?

Do you have a link so we could read this article?

  5. Ah, the Sunday Times! As reliable as ever.

Chris Mullin, A View from the Foothills, pages 325-6:

Dave Triesman recounted an illuminating little exchange that he had recently with the editor of the Sunday Times, John Witherow. David had been complaining about that paper’s unrelentingly hostile coverage of the government and all its works. ‘It’s noting personal,’ Witherow replied. ‘We treated the Tories the same way.’

‘What are your values?’ asked Dave. ‘What do you stand for?’

To which Witherow shamelessly replied, ‘The bottom line.’
