Senior political hacks have been summoned to Dundela…

Wed 6 January 2010, 7:53pm

For what, they’ve been called to the DUP party headquarters in East Belfast, we do not know… But I suspect we’re going to find out soon…

Update: None of the Belfast print media have been invited. And the press office is disclaiming any knowledge that anything is happening there. But we understand that the BBC are parked outside the building.

It looks like a case of ‘resigning to spend more time with his family’ then. Which might be literal or figurative – depending on what is in the Spotlight program and who has ‘leaked’ it and for what expedient purpose (unless NI’s media has suddenly developed a missing investigative reporting bent).

If there was a discrepancy between an expenses claim and the actual location of an MP or MLA at the time presumably that would be a matter of public interest.

Classic, what we have witnessed is journos doing what they do best, speculating.

Any chance of naming a few sources, not a chance.

Presumably that means that our dear leader has finished taking care of family business.
On that subject, Robinson was unable to make an initial statement on the death of the cardinal because he was unavailable. Now any other country where I lived would announce a stand-in to take care of emergent issues while the PM was on vacation or otherwise unavailable. Does that not happen in N.I.?

Typical journalism, fire off concerns about sub rosa talk yet such journos conceal their own sources for the “greater common good” i.e. news worthiness for the masses that “need to know”.

Yet when politicians cite privacy for the greater public good they get pilloried and why? Well because they are “public” figures and good for it – fair game.

Might be a good tactic – let the speculation mount and the juicy rumours fly and then the actual announcement might actually be a disappointment in comparison, a damp squib.

    Garza,

I was hoping someone would bring religion into the conversation. What is God’s position on extramarital sex by the way? It’s ok if you’re sufficiently homophobic?

If true this underlines the fact that she’s pure poison IMO. Another Christian with opinions on other people’s sex lives and the morals of a cat.
