All (car)pool together for the Slugger Awards

Mon 23 November 2009, 12:38am

I have no idea if this will be of any use, interest or work but I’ll give it a go anyhow.

Slugger has its awards in Belfast on Tuesday. It’s a school night and some from outlying areas could be denied the opportunity to relax and socialise with alcohol due to driving or face an expensive taxi ride. There should be around 150 people there and many won’t know each other.

So lets sort a car/taxi share for those making similar journeys home.

You can quickly register at Liftshare.com, add the date and time of your journey (Belfast to wherever, 24th Nov, with a time of 2200 and a 2hr flexibility) and be informed if anyone matches your requirements or if a driver can offer a lift.

If this works for even one person I’d be delighted to hear about it. If anyone is aware of a better site for organising this drop me a mail.

[Disclaimer: I and Slugger O'Toole accept no responsibility for any death, injury or nasty things that may happen to people sharing a journey with a random person off the internet]

    Mark,
I assume the “outlying area” might go beyond Glengormley or Lisburn and that the exorbitant/unrealistic cost of taxi etc has already put our country cousins off the event.

    PT,

Your humble correspondent lives in Crumlin and doesn’t drive. That’s 20+ squid to get home for me. I thought others may be in the same boat.

Oh and I’m a very progressive blogger ensuring we reduce Slugger’s carbon footprint or something.

    Humble PT
Talks through her arse and now lives in Scotland. But last year could not afford the childminder, nor the journey home.

I now find myself unable to go (dammit!!), therefore there’s a ticket goin’ spare (a bit like it’s owner!)
What’s the correct procedure for cancelling?
