Slugger Awards: Join our readers’ panel next Tuesday…

Thu 12 November 2009, 9:51pm

I’ve booked a room at Jury’s Inn at the foot of the Grosvenor Road for next Tuesday evening… Meeting at 7.00pm and working through till 9-10… Tea and biscuits provided and may a pint afterwards before we all head home… Limited spaces I’m afraid, but if you want to come drop me a line… mick.fealty@gmail.com

    Wish you well.

Fun that the process may eclipse the achievements to be celebrated.

Who’s going to actuate “The Awards Awards” I wonder?

Thanks Quietz. I take it the cost of flights will preclude you from volunteering?

We have a small but perfectly formed readers panel so far. We can’t manage more than 14 in the space, so it will be first come first served…

The main task will be to sift through all the public nominations and come up with a short list of three. I’ll be chairing and noting some of the main discussion points which will form part of the briefing for the judges the following evening.

One of these days . . . I’ll visit the land of a few of my forefathers.

I’d not presume to offer to join your panel in any case, having more modest views on matters of which I am reasonably ignorant.

If the first fourteen have it, will they then be permitted to vote on those three they have shortlisted, or is that to be left to the rest of the Company?

Only one serious conflict of interest would be if your blog was nominated. I don’t think nominating itself should be a bar to participation.
