  1. Unless he’s appearing under a pseudonym, or there’s a vacancy due to illness, I don’t see anyone from DCAL appearing on next week’s sofa. But might be funny to interview him for the inset piece?

Poor ‘Gerard’ must feel unloved. Firstly, because he is actually called ‘Gary’ and secondly because he is neither ‘peerless’ (wtf?) or ‘our own’.

  4. Horseman says:

Oops, my bad. Gerard really is Gerard. I thought he was the Gary McKeown of a previous episode.

    Still un-loved, though.

I have watched a few of these now. I think Andrew Neil is safe. This is a forty minute ramble where the promise of a more pacy 20 minutes might manage to hold my attention a bit longer. It is as if they all took a valium before they went on camera. Its all worthy, but not watchable at length. Needs some umph.

  6. Gary McKeown says:

I can confirm that that isn’t me. I know someone on Slugger had a pop at my hairdo after the previous episode, but it didn’t affect me to the extent that I felt the need to go through an entire physical transformation and rebrand myself ‘Gerard’ ;)

I dont believe it! Gerard bloody McKeown! Lived with the guy for over a year off the lisburn road. Hows your new housemate in the room beside you? Hows Tom & Gemma doing? More importantly is the washing machine fixed yet?!?

My actual point on Nelson McCausland was edited out. That being that I don’t mind his blog being personal, but I do mind someone with such narrow personal preoccupations being culture minister.

Actually hang on, Horseman! That’s why you’re on here at this section alot, you’re looking an invite on.

As a blogger get him on as I’m interested in hearing at length (i.e the 40mins worth) of just how Ulster is actually doomed.

Oh yes and of course a Kensei versus Mick debate.

I was thinking the same thing myself.

And we could do with some minority representatives also.

    I am being serious.

It gets a bit boring watching a bunch of white guys with very little difference of opinion, life expeience and so on yada yada yada.
These guys probably believe that they have great differences between them but actually they have’nt

  20. Rory Carr says:

Which non-white NI bloggers do you propose for inclusion next time then, Panic?

Better yet, if you can come up with a non-white (heterosexual)female or two plus a gay man, a lesbian and two transexuals (one pre-op and one post-op). That way we can ensure that we have a broad representation of NornIron types and cultures on board, what?

Just so long as they all host their own NI blog remember.

“The only thing that politicians understand,” says Conall mcKevitt,”is people power…it’s the ballot box.”

Wise words indeed from an SDLP spokesman who, we can be sure, speaks from deep, if bitter, experience.

As far as I can make out, Irish language bloggers are the blacks of the blogosphere in Ireland and are marginalised by default from the conversation – except when it comes to discussing their special topic, the Irish language.

There’s more to blogging in Irish than blogging about Irish….

I have no interest in appearing on Blogtalk myself – being located in Cork makes it impossible – but it’s a good idea if maybe without a spark which would set it apart from others.

Perhaps Nuacht 24 could have a similar programme but showing how much more lively things could be….
