Gately’s death not ‘natural’, says Moir…

Fri 16 October 2009, 4:40pm

JAN Moir’s Daily Mail column implying that Stephen Gately died from a drug-fuelled, troubled, gay lifestyle is causing much debate on Twitter. Whilst we have been told a little more about what happened on the night in question, Moir appears to be questioning the coroner’s verdict in her innuendo… maybe in order to disguise her own homophobia?

Plenty of heterosexuals live and die because of a drug-fuelled troubled lifstyle as well, Moir’s point is what exactly?

Also, Moir states that after Civil Partnerhsips Gays lives are still troubled – much the same as heterosexuals as well (it was to gave same-sex couples same rights under the law no one said it was going to be easy). His point is what exactly??

I read an interesting one-liner about getting the Tabloid treatment regardless of whatever topic, the treatment is apparently like “getting mugged by gang of skinheads”.

That is low: “Whatever the cause of death is, it is not, by any yardstick, a natural one. Let us be absolutely clear about this.”

She isn’t clear about it at all.

There is something not quite right about you sleeping on the couch whilst your spouse is in bed with another man in the next room ?

Homosexual or Hetrosexual that just isnt the norm ?

That’s dead right. Not a nice article at all and it seems to be based on Very little evidence. Sometimes after a night out a mate comes back to my house, it doesn’t mean anythin funny’s going on.

    Pure innuendo.

Quite right. He should have been in there with them. But in this case, pleading that you have a headache, the usual spinster’s alibi, might, given that he was only an hour or so away from death, be quite true.

You can have a natural death in a bad situation.

What is contemptible about this article is that Jan Moir is pretending to know something with certainty that she can only surmise on.

You obviously haven’t heard of a site called adultfriendfinder – where millions of people take part in swinging – local – national – international. But as another commenter has mentioned you should usually join in.

I’ve dug out my quote and it was actually Gus MacDonald that said this:

“Being attacked by the tabloids is like being mugged by skinheads.”

Great quote and so apt for Jan Moir’s piece.

    Charlie Brooker has now commented:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/oct/16/stephen-gately-jan-moir

Why there was nothing ‘human’ about Jan Moir’s column on the death of Stephen Gately

Jan Moir’s rant about the Boyzone star Stephen Gately is a gratuitous piece of gay-bashing

  16. PaddyReilly says:

Homosexuality is a gift of a benign and far-seeing providence to a person whose constitution is weakened to the extent that he will be unlikely to have the strength to reproduce effectively. It deflects the sexual drive away from the dangerous pursuit of making babies for the orphanage and into a neutral and unproductive orientation where pleasure is obtained but there are no consequences for the population.

Stephen Gateley was a case in point: he suffered from a congenital weakness of the heart together with a general shortness of stature and was not destined to live beyond the age of 33. For this reason it was better that he should not be interested in women.

His end was not sordid or tragic but exactly as he would have wanted it to be, having taken up every opportunity to have sex in as many imaginative combinations and with as many partners as possible.

Take any young man and tell him that though he will not experience any illness he will be dead in 48 hours, and how do you think he will wish to spend those hours?

Of course tolerance is a virtue and I would never countenance discrimination on the basis of someone’s lifestyle. You can’t help the way you are born, but I simply will never accept that there is anything either natural or healthy in reading the Daily Mail. If the Good Lord had intended us to live this way he would never have let us walk upright or given us opposable thumbs.
