Accenture to incorporate in Ireland

Thu 28 May 2009, 10:36pm

The Irish Times are reporting that many companies incorporated in Carribean tax havens such as Bermuda and the Caymen islands are considering moving their headquarters to Europe as the USA tightens it’s tax regulations. They report that Accenture, one of the first to move, is to incorporate in Ireland.

William Green CEO of Accenture said
“A member of the European Union, Ireland offers a sophisticated, well-developed corporate, legal and regulatory environment,”

So far President Obama’s tax changes are working to Ireland’s benefit, let’s hope it continues.

It’s not too late for Gordon Brown to get his finger out and do summat about that corporation tax hindrance.

We could use some of that action up here in the North.

Sure, why not? Let Ireland continue to advance as a safe haven for every tax-dodging bunch of conniving corporate thieves.

The benefits may to be enormous promising new hope for accountants, lawyers, politicians, property developers, massage parlour owners and other assorted whores.

Guys, we need that investment, north and south. People are suffering here. The corporate thieves will make a killing—they always do—but let them have it I say if it’ll bring in more inward investment.

If it wasn’t such an immediately obvious consequence of Obama’s naïve attacks, I’d feel a lot more smug right now. He dared U.S. companies to do this and they are beginning to call his bluff.

Let Ireland continue to advance as a safe haven for every tax-dodging bunch of conniving corporate thieves.

Who exactly are this nebulous bunch thieving from?

Since corporation tax in Bermuda is 0%, perhaps Accenture and others feel they’d be safer redomiciling to somewhere which at least charges corporation tax.
Ireland won’t be the only beneficiary. Switzerland is also attracting holding companies from Bermuda etc.
However, Rory is right to suggest that the main beneficiaries will be lawyers and accountants with very little in the way of ‘job creation’.
    Ob…
They’re ‘thieving’ from the US Treasury.
