Tis funny that it does not seem possible to make an entertaining cop show set in the present.
All the political correct stuff gets in the way.
I am not saying that most of the political correct stuff is wrong but in my opinion it would get in the way of making an entertaining present day cop show.

The only thing I have seen Keeley Hawes in was Tipping the Velvet in 2002. I am still recovering but thanks to constant medication my blood pressure is beginning to stabilise.

I find this post offensive. Seriously, are you trying to turn this blog into just another lads’ mag? I’ve always really enjoyed the Sluger blog, and I’d like to think it is a blog on NI politics and culture that both men *and* women will read, but it’s a sorry day if a post about a man salivating over a woman on TV represents the sort of content we can expect here in future. This sort of mindless objectifying of women is better served in other genres of text. In a modern age like the one we all live in, I’d rather not see that here thanks.

after a restrained opening remark you appear to have cut loose – I fear the ‘L’ word particulary in the abridged form with an ‘O’ on the end will not be popular with herself above as it suggests a particualr type of female ‘love’ more designed for the delectation of male onlookers than the female participants and I’m afraid throwing in a literary reference at the end to an authoress not her herself unacquainted with activities of the ‘L’ variety only makes matter worse. I’m not sure of your religion, but if you are subject to the writ of Rome then you could be looking at a good smattering of Hail Mary’s for such impure thoughts should you decide to share them with your local priest in the confessional.

I will now attempt to resuce this thread from the smut from which it has inexcusably descended and place into the respectablity of the mumbo-jumbo of modern psychology.
Without knowing anything about the qaureone above other than in the TV trailers – the first thing that struck me (as it was presumably designed to do) was her facial expression – which in absence of any suitably academic term I shall refer to as the ‘come-on-look’.
I presume there is a branch of psychology which studies body language and can inform as to the characteristics of this type of facial expression which I guess is a ‘learned behaviour’ commoner amongst womenfolk (was there some reference above to soft-porn surely a hotbed for such learning).
There must presumably be some generic similarities between the ‘come-on-look and the ‘perve’ look commoner in menfolk. The main difference that springs to mind is that the perv look is alltogether less discriminatory and is unlikely to lead to refusal should the signals sucessfully be conveyed to the opposite sex. The ‘come-on-look’ much to the regret of the less attractive wing of the male population is by no means a guarantee of interest and although far more socially acceptable all-round, may often lead ( and I am of course not speaking from bitter persoanl experience here) to embarassment and rejection. One traditional male way of dealing with this dillemma, particualry in Ireland, is for the male to partake of large quatities of alcohol but unfortunately this may indeed have the opposite effect.
So we cetainly need a scientific approach to this issue and although I realise Psychology is
almost exclusively about academic in-fighting and about as scientific as the now debunked crypto-science economics it probably is the best starting place though I do accept that one obvious disadvantage of empirically confirming the ‘come-on-look’ and variations therfeof is that it might be snatched at by certain judges to reinforce their arguements of provocative dressing in their over eagerness to free men charged with sexual assault.
