Not like other devolved administrations..

Mon 2 March 2009, 10:32pm

After confirming the freeze on regional rates, and before welcoming the lowering of the maximum capital value for rating purposes, the Northern Ireland Finance Minister, the DUP’s Nigel Dodds, was on Stormont Live to talk about those populist measures and promises made in a “different economic place”. He also takes a swipe at the Conservatives and Unionists and, whilst emphasising the fairness of rates here compared to council tax levels elsewhere, takes the line that our Government administration “of all the talents” is in a different position to that of the other devolved administrations.. [What is that ticking sound? - Ed] Indeed.

A little O/T but I’d like to see what some of our independent retailers think of that rates “fairness”…

Doods sounds plausible but in fact he is talking nonsense.
The idea that Gordon Brown and the government should be held to the spending plans of May 2007 is simply not credible.
Dodds needs to take his blinkers off – there is a whole big world out there Nigel and a world wide economic crisis.
His failure to recognise this and to simply blame ‘the Brits’ ie Labour and the Conservatives is classic nationalist rubbish.
DUP betray their Ulster nationalist and anti British feeling more and more
