Civic Forum to the politics of listening online…

As luck would have I did a a second interview tonight. This time with Mark Curruthers on Evening Extra (playback: here, 56 mins in) this evening too… Talking about Twitter and it’s political uses… It’s prompted by noises from the DUP’s Nelson McCausland that the Internet could provide the kind of real contact with ordinary folk that the Civic Forum was originally intended… Great idea Nelson… Let’s hear then that the Minister of Finance and Personal is willing to put his money where his mouth is and shift some of the resources previously assigned the Forum and invest in usefully engaging citizenry online…

    The twitter thing would have the advantage for the politicians of being even easier to ignore, and could never develop as an alternative centre for progressive politics.

    Dawn Purvis has experimented with a twitter account in the past, it still exists but has not been regularly updated, we are waiting to integrate it and make it visible on the website which is also going through a redesign.
