The fact is these men did not serve here and many would no little about it as there is a large multi-national contingent to the 1st Battalion (Fijians, Americans and those from the Commonwealth). Your point is therefore not acceptable. Even when the home battalions of the RIR closed very few transfered to the 1st Battalion. These men were out in Afghan and Iraq stopping dictatorships that censored the press, tortured it's people, refused to let women and girls learn, forced young men to join their ranks and banned music are are therefore heroes. Where would Sinn Fein be now if they lived in such conditions? The idea of a protest in a Taliban controlled Afghanistan is laughable, women are afraid to leave their homes! Does the republican support of an anti-war protest mean they support the undemocratic leaderships of the Taliban and Saddam?
