Once again the third Proclaimer seems to be living in a bubble. His grasp of history and its consequences isn’t too good to say the least. He likes to perpetuate the myth that the most recent outbreak of the difficulty between Ireland and Britain was started by them ‘pesky fenians’ which as we all know wasn’t the case.
All that said however, I’ll reserve judgement on wether the episode is in poor taste until I’ve seen it. Until then I’ll stick to Family Guy.

The producers of the Simpsons need to answer the question – would they have used something like “Where are al-Qaeda when you need them?” If not, then the reference to the Sinn Fein PIRA terrorist criminals is inappropriate.

Glad to see that Gregory still has time on his hands to deal with serious world issues.
It was Bart in response to seeing the Irish dancers. So nice to see the Sentinel getting its facts right again. It’s a joke. It’s meant to be a joke. In a lot of ways I thought it poked fun at the IRA more than anything else. Gregory is right about those who still suffer from the legacy of violence but I would say that the community has shown a remarkable capacity to laugh at the worst as part of the coping process. What exactly have the Hole in the Wall Gang been making jokes about these years?

To all of us who understand the principle of ‘comedy’ please bear in mind that your opposition is the DUP and, as a part of their membership pack when you join, you are told not to smile at anything. In fact, you are told to slap down anyone in the street who has the bare faced cheek to look happy…

How could it be otherwise?
Do you really think that God could support Sinn Fein or the DUP or the UUP? Maybe Alliance might get an occasional smile between the vomit-inducing rent boy antics in support of British governments, for which it is rewarded in rewards.
The SDLP isn’t perfect but it has the perfect ideology: social justice, non-violence, while rejecting the Israelite chosen people values that dominate the ideology of the unioinists and Sinn Fein.
SDLP originates in Christian values wheras the other vulgarians ignore God every time they open their mouths or act.
The SDLP is above all a New Testament party with New Testament values. The others have yet to leave the Old Testament. An eye for an eye is their dominant rule.
So I ask, How could it be otherwise?

I guess someone has approached Gregory and said this is terrible etc etc. Like most comedy it could be looked at as being in bad taste and to remain consistent in their story and how they deliver it Gregory has to say what he said.
Result? we’ll all watch this episode and like most simpsons stuff bust a gut.

The comment “to destroy this place” is intended as a warning that we’re heading toward a Bosnia situation because people in their voting patterns are demonstrating that they have unrealistic expectations about their side being able to annihilate the views (first) of the other side.
Neither side is lying down as they have been prepared to expect and thus we’re like two immovable objects moving with irresistible force at each other.
Sometime soon, it has to come to a head.

I fail to see anything in the article which justifies your smarmy and sarcastic comment about Campbell. The IRA DID inflict a hell of a lot of suffering on a hell of a lot of people and quite a few of those were, by the IRA’s own measure, innocent non-combatants. A not inconsiderable number (around 150) were selected to be executed merely for their religion, such was the provos’ dedication to republican ideals. A little less smart alecness from you would not go amiss here.

Both sides are too lazy and comfortable to want civil war john.They can’t even keep the place clean. And Dub as part of the community who suffered, I see nothing wrong with some humour in the situation. Even in the darkest days of the troubles we were able to laugh at some events. There was grim humour on all sides.
Let’s be kind to poor Gregory. The DUP do after all suffer from an excess of Puritanism which the US scribe H.L. Mencken defined as “the haunting fear that someone, somewhere may be happy.”
I saw Gregory on tv last week at a film premiere in his capacity as culture minister,did he go to the premiere of Hunger?
Look at the GAWA telling themselves that the famine is over and that orange bands paly tunes again and it was time for them to go home.
