Another last ditch for Brown

Thu 14 August 2008, 2:24pm

With the news of the death of his constituency neighbour John Macdougall in Glenrothes, Gordon Brown faces another excruciating last ditch battle for survival. Glenrothes was the one they had been primed to dread, as the unfortunate Macdougall died a lingering death. Glasgow East came as a sudden devastating blow.
The Scotsman lays the issues out starkly, as does the Guardian. While the doyen of political analysts John Curtice wraps it all up on the Today programme at 7.20a.m..

So it looks like a November tryst with destiny for Gordon.

  1. It was Sammy McNally what done it says:

I think El Gordo should sit tight and allow the Neo Cons centre stage – surely some more right bufoonery – like yesterdays suggestion to close down Liverpool and Sunderland will come to the surface.

An apology for the invasion of Iraq and the way they manipulated the truth would do them far more good than changing the leader and of course Wee Reggie’s electoral fortunes may of start to rub off on the Neo Cons.

    And Political Betting

I wouldn’t take anything for granted in the Kingdom of Fife – they are about as thran as you can get. but SNP have an excellent MSP representing most of the constituency in Holyrood so must have a very good chance.

For the real hardcore election geeks in our midst – Following the introduction of E-voting in Scotland you can now see the election reults for the Scottish Parliament by polling booth……Wonderful !

Many thanks to Pete Whitehead for finding us that. Unintelligble though.

Why don’t you total up the Glenrothes districts to find out how it voted in the SP?

With apologies to Mr Shakespeare for the ‘modifications’

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more,
Or close the wall up with our Scottish dead!
In Government there’s nothing so becomes a man
    As modest stillness and lack of humility;
But when the blast of election blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger (Celtic ?):
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

Gordon needs to send out a circular to all Labour MP’s north of the border that under no circumstances are they allowed to die before the American Presidential Election in November and only with his (the Prime Minister’s ) written permission thereafter .

I read somewhere that life expectancy for Scottish males was in the low sixties and running about 7 or 8 years behind most of the rest of the UK ?

Anybody know the reason ? Too many fried Mars bars or is there something unwholesome in the haggis ? or the lethal cocktail combination of the white cancer sticks and the lack of fresh air in dimly lit pubs and long winter evenings ?
