Talks on parade

Mon 28 July 2008, 1:49pm

The GAA Ulster Championship replay has led to talks between police and the organisers of a Royal Black parade in Enniskillen. The evening church parade will did coincide with the aftermath of the game and return of fans to the town. Last year sectarian abuse was shouted by some GAA fans at a similar parade. There were also complaints of on-street drinking by fans during and after the drawn final.

Imagine, Catholic GAA supporters drinking on the street, and on a Sunday, where are the Priests?

Don’t lower yourselves like the Proddies

UmH – probably having a quiet pint in the corner. Many priests are avid GAA supporters.

Ahh well, hard luck Fermanagh. on the upside, at least the replay was another game the Orchard had to suffer on their legs in their (hopefully fruitless) march toward september. I was disgusted with my own Red Hands and their poor display in the second half, esp with 2 extra bods for most of it. But we got through, ulster is doing well, and no mistake. Tir Eoghain agus Uladh abú.

  9. Paul McMahon says:

Just caa’t seem to find the article on the DUP website where a prominant DUP member calls for strong police action in the wake of Twelfth of July street drinking and eleventh night bonfires.

    Wonder why that is?

Is it the fight scenes they enjoy or the men in shorts?

So nothing happened at the parade then this year, just something last year from some idiots. Sorry but what’s the point of this post?

    Rapunsel

Abuse was hurled at members on parade this year again, I suppose this can be blamed on the demon drink.

Incidentally when are the GAA flags coming down in Enniskillen?

I would guess when Fear Manach get knocked out of this year’s Championship, an event which hasn’t happened yet by the way.

Probably the same as time the loyalist flags are taken down in Omagh.
