“I think he’s a false teacher..”

Wed 9 July 2008, 4:26am

Whilst a lot of the coverage might be concentrated on the issue of women bishops, Will Crawley points out that there may be civil war among the Anglican clergy. My own view of the Un-Enlightenment, the influence of Emperor Constantine, and today’s battles, is already available online.

Do please enlighten us, Pete, as to your own thoughts on this contentious matter of homosexuality, as to whether you consider that it might be a state of human sexuality biologically predetermined or an expression of sexual preference determined by social conditioning.

I am sure that your readers would much prefer to read your thoughts on the matter than to read some second-hand (ten thousandth hand?) interpretation of what some dusty old Roman had to say on the matter. I know that I would.

Besides which who cares what the Catholic fathers such as Constantine had to say except perhaps Catholics and noisy, empty fundamentalists whose only function is to oppose Catholicism?

Go on! – let’s keep the spirit of the Enlightenment alive and well on Slugger.

The “truly enlightened” on this matter address all their enquiries to TumbleDown Iris Robinson, Ulsters Agony Aunt Supremo.

All right thinking people regard the Bible as God`s Word and are of the opinion God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

And if you dont? Are you not ‘right thinking’?

I think the bible is just a mixture of Hebrew folklore and mythology later supplemented by Greek philosophy.

Am I suffering from a mental illness?

It’s not the chosen area of battle between the supernaturalists that is of interest to me, but the nature of the battle itself.

No GGN, it is not a mental illness but a fairly prevalent theme of literary critical analysis which views the OLD testament as a soap opera about gangsters and sheep thieves who lived in a desert wilderness about 4000 years ago.

As someone pointed out in an earlier thread on the moral psychoanalyst Mrs Robo, read Leviticus for guidance on the proper conduct of public and private life.
