Podcasting Talkback

Sun 6 July 2008, 5:32pm

BBC iPlayer seems to have had an upgrade recently to integrate radio output, but you still get a sliver of the previous programme. At the beginning of this week’s inside politics is the tail end of the best of talkback, where David Dunseith lets us know that next week marks the beginning of the shows podcast (unclear if it is a daily podcast or a weekly best of, perhaps someone from the BBC could let us know?).

This is of course, not before time!

It’ll be a weekly best of.

Thanks for that jone, why not a daily one though?

Hasn’t BBC Online been hit by cutbacks? And with the complaints about non-licence payers (ie everyone outside the UK with internet access) benefiting from the BBC website, it’s maybe a part of the Beeb that’s taking a hit.

But as Michael says, it costs virtually nothing to produce on-demand content on iPlayer. Maybe it’s time consuming, but it’s a bit rubbish if the only show BBC NI can put out as a podcast is Nolan. Surely the BBC could have the whole process automated with just a little investment?

Gonzo, I think the entire iPlayer is UK only, whereas the radio output online was globally accessible. Not sure though.
