Conversation, politics and stray insights

There’s a meme about on the topic of Hillary Clinton’s claim to have “crossed the threshold” of foreign policy experience to serve as commander in chief. Via the Professor, who spotted it at DailyKos.

“Saying that Hillary has Executive Branch experience is like saying Yoko Ono was a Beatle.”

    Ouch.

A fair point, well made. You’ve got to laugh at how she’d have you believe she brought peace to Northern Ireland, single-handedly opened up Macedonian borders to Kosovan refugees and actually made a difference by telling China to treat women equally.

Having seen this elsewhere, I feel obliged to point out the rebuttal that, while mayhap not a Beatle, Yoko did participate (to the chagrin of those Beatles not married to her) in some recordings…

A more accurate statement might be that “Saying that Hillary has Executive Branch experience is like saying Paul’s soon-to-be ex-wife Stumpy was a Beatle.”

In a related note, there should be no suggestion that any of the following bears a resemblence, literal or metaphorical, to Barbara Bach: Hillary Clinton, Yoko Ono, Stumpy.

Was over at CNN the other day and clicked on Clinton and guess what came up? A photograph of Hillary with Spitzer and a headline something like, “Sex scandal grips Democrats”.

Yours truely thought, “hey this looks like another side to her must read”, and of course no connections whatsoever, so why post up a photograph showing them both together? Wonder who some in CNN would like to see nominated?

Back to NI as I keep saying she had infinitely more involvement than Obama as he had absolutely NONE.

It is a bit like his claim not to have voted for the war, well yes Barack you didn’t vote because you were not elected and therefore not able to vote. It is amazing he almost gets credited for doing nothing, and having no involvement. Am I the only one that finds this perverse?

I think it is a fair enough question to ask which of the two of them has more experience. Obama really does have very little in any field. I am amazed by the lack of proper press scrutiny of him and the clear bias.

Sadly enough, this sort of weasel word-play is, in fact, a step or two up from the “politics as usual…”

And, no, you’re not… but we’re a pretty thin group, despite not being alone…

As a response I feel obliged to point out that it falls somewhat short of a rebuttal.

Pop goes the weasel again Dread? You obsessed with little furry fellas :)

    Crat.
She claimed to have superior foreign policy experience and cited the North. She didn’t even have national security clearance. She was there as one of Bill’s groupies. So it can be asked of her, just as of Obama, what exactly was that experience?

Whatever way you want to portray it, a response is not a rebuttal.

Obama has never claimed to have any serious foreign affairs experience. She doesnt have any real or official foreign affairs experience, but claims it irrespective. Who is full of shit here?

  13. Did I miss the other half of the Hillary/Beatle crack?

It’s Obama seeking the Irish vote by inserting an apostrophe.

And, no, neither half was funny.

So can we focus (as Crataegus @ 10:29 PM, might have it) on the Big Conspiracy theory coming out of the woodwork: who screwed Spitzer and why? You’ve two choices: do you put your money on Wall Street or Dubya?
