Still waiting..

Fri 1 February 2008, 4:41am

From the absence of updates to today’s report by the BBC on the Northern Ireland Executive meeting today, I can only assume that the decision to retrospectively authorise the Social Development minister, the SDLP’s Margaret Ritchie, to cut the funding to the UDA-linked CTI project [and avoid the implications of that decision, despite the legal advice - Ed] has been put off again. As it was at the last Executive meeting.. Ah.. If it wasn’t for that legal case.. and those disputed minutes..

I suspect the delay has more to do with the SDLPs’ voting record this week than anything else.

    BL,

If you look across all the committees, the amount of work getting postponed from their original schedules would make an interesting (if not entirely revealing) study all of its own.

BL, that’s wishful thinking. This is another example of the SF / DUP axis collaborating to keep each other right, but not actually making any difficult decisions.

Note the fact that SF had been spinning all morning about their new-found support for Ritchie’s decision to cut the UDA funding. When it came to the crunch, again they rolled over and put it off.
