Completely random thought but why has Murphy been arrested at this time? I very much doubt that the governments (let alone the DUP) want reminded about Mr. Quinn’s death but might there be a link between the timing of Murphy’s arrest and trying to demonstrate that the gardai want proper cooperation about Mr. Quinn’s murder? As I say a random thought.

Here’s another random thought re Cullyhanna. Nicknames are family-generic rather than personal around here. They are used to distinguish between the very many families called Murphy, descendants of the Mac Muircheadh driven from Tyrone by the Dungannon O’Neills in the 1340s, and given refuge and land by the O’Neills of the Fews around what is now Ballsmill-Glasdrummond. So there are the Whoppers and the Paramours (great story there) and the Corneys and so on.
