The Vikings are coming [any way they can]!

Tue 17 July 2007, 12:25am

Having been delayed due to unfavourable winds, the crew of Havhingsten fra Glendalough [the Sea Stallion from Glendalough] rowed out into the North Sea at midnight last night and waited for the wind. After eight hours, and no wind, the forecast was blowing in the opposite direction.. and so they are now crossing the North Sea.. under tow by their support vessel. They expect to reach the Orkneys on 17th July.. and they’re still heading this way.. one island at a time..

Our long lost relatives of yore, the Norse wouldn’t have had such problems, masters of the sea and master craftmen. Good to see homage paid to the original old rig heading home once again to Dubhlinn. Skol agus Sláinte!
