It’s bigger then you could ever understand.

Sun 10 June 2007, 1:10am

Last night Ireland was in the right place at the right time to watch the International Space Station pass overhead.. tonight we just miss out. [Actually we don't, see update - Ed] But, according to Heavens Above [just add your local town for details - Ed], we are in the right place at the right time to see the Space Shuttle Atlantis pass overhead, as they chase behind the International Space Station.. and at a slightly more reasonable hour. From Heavens Above, the sky and star charts, for Belfast, are here.. and the equally cool ground track here. Tomorrow night Later tonight.. both should be visible overhead as Atlantis closes in. Adds Looking at the data again. Later tonight we will be in the right place at the right time to see both.

    Pete,

I’d been hoping both would be visible at the same time, flicking forward it ain’t going to happen but with the distances involved it’s no surprise.

Sorry only realised the 2nd pass(!) of Atlantis brought it down to a 6 min gap tomorrow. Fantastic.

That second pass tonight narrows the gap to approx 6 minutes. But the Shuttle isn’t going to be visible for long.

    Pete,

Did you see the meteor just before high point? Worth staying up for. Technology and nature putting on a show.
