AND the winner of the Most Boringly Longwinded Committee Name in the Known World is the Assembly’s renamed Committee of the Centre - now called the Committee for the Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers. It might do exactly what it says on the tin, but surely they could’ve come up with something snappier? Mark Devenport lists a few alternatives, but I’m sure there are others!

Was it called the Committee of the Centre because the Office of the First Minister was at the opposite end of Parliament buildings from his Deputy’s, and the middle was the only place where both could be seen?
