Antrim in last place on all island monopoly board…
Hasbro, the makers of the game of Monopoly, are going to introduce a new all island monopoly board. Since there are 32 counties and only 22 spaces on the board, they are throwing it open to a voting process. At the moment, Armagh are the top Northern Irish county, currently sitting pretty in 7th place, with 9597 votes. Fermanagh should be okay too. But holding up the bottom is Co Antrim, with a measly 2301 votes. They face the chop along with Tyrone, Down and Co Derry. If you want to see your county sitting on the All Ireland Board (so to speak) then get voting. Polling closes on 25th May!!

Well, that’s one added.
Surely canvassing disqualifies. And, form a GAA perspective, London and New York should be included. Ofcourse, Oaisley could develop his own game with only the reject counties included.
GK,
Where does it say that? Remember it’s only a game, lighten up!!
I cant find County Londonderry – no wonder it hasnt got many votes
I tried to vote but it will not let me says try later so I will and see what happens
“I tried to vote but it will not let me says try later so I will and see what happens”
Me too. Obviously some sort of high-tech espionage from Armagh hackers…
where is this County Derry place?? I thought Derry was a city??
I guess it won’t be getting your votes then?
I tried to vote it wouldn’t let me
(for Meath, to keep Down out of Ireland!)
My objection to the Irish insistence on renaming Londonderry County is based on sound historical Geographic reasons (learned in Dublin!)
(There is less of an identification with County identity in East Ulster, so I expect that accounts for Antrim and Down’s poor showings)
The City and County of Londonderry are not mentioned. As both city and county appear on Ordinace Survey maps as Londonderry, perhaps hasbro should rethink their new edition to include the Loyalist People. Cobh should be Queensferry and such like.
Quis Separabit
I am quite happy for my home county, Down, not to be included and if Meath men are happy to have their county at the whim of throw of dice by grubby speculators (however virtual)then somehow I find myself unsurprised. Oh! how the mighty are fallen.
meath are also off the pace.if they pull up one space they get into the zone courtesy of Tyrone. So if you support partition, perhaps Meath is a good tactical vote?
For those whinging ‘uncle andy’ types, Derry is refered to as ‘London’derry on several occasions when you vote for it on the site. And what a lovely county it is. Even Coleraine.
This is as close as you nationalists will get to an All Ireland Economy.
“This is as close as you nationalists will get to an All Ireland Economy.”
Chill out John! Sure you’re Irish aren’t you? Trading with our fellow Irishmen shouldn’t worry you a bit.
No questions about how a SF minister can play all-Ireland Monopoly while still bringing jobs to Belfast then? lol.
Go on John, vote for Antrim, show some pride in your county. Isn’t it the most heavily populated county in the country?
Cahal
I think I was pulling your leg.
Anyhow I always thought the dividing line for Antrim and Down was the Lagan which puts me in Down ?
as I have pointed out on Slugger the Irish language slogans on old unionist and orange banners, it is only fair to admit in the new lovey-dovey climate that i have also seen fenian banners of ireland containing a county named….londonderry
Cobh should be Queensferry
and NewZealand should be Southern Hemisphere Canada but that ain’t gonna happen.
“Anyhow I always thought the dividing line for Antrim and Down was the Lagan which puts me in Down ? ”
I never understood this one. So half of Belfast is in each county? Eh?
While we’re on the subject, why do some people from Newry support Armagh?
I never understood this one. So half of Belfast is in each county, Eh?
Ever noticed that Linfield and Glentoran do not like each other?
Part of Newry is in Armagh as wikipedia can confirm.
If the RPA took us back to counties and county boroughs and Belfast stopped at the Lagan, would the rump have a nationalist majority?
actually i always wanted to know which GAA team people in East Belfast support, I always thought it was Down, but the post office seems to think all of Belfast is in Antrim??
Go Meath!!
True British Loyalist
‘Cobh should be Queensferry and such like. ‘
TBL, doh…actually Cobh name changed to QUEENSTOWN in 1849 following visit from Queen Vic
Quis Separabit or Sic semper tyrannis ?
What about County Fingal? 32 counties is sooo last century.

Err, no actually, I’m afraid to say I was unaware of such hatred.
I have no clue about the Irish league. Losely follow DC in the LOI.
Anyhoo, why do they hate eachother? Is it something to do with Belfast being in two counties?
As for Newry being in Down and Armagh, I’ve heard it said that a good chunk of Derry city is actually in county Donegal or at least on the Inishowen peninsula.
I saw Antrim’s Gaelic footballers training at the grounds in Holywood one day quite recently. Surely that’s out of bounds.
Derry city is actually in county Donegal or at least on the Inishowen peninsula.
I believe you are referring to the computer plant.
Memory was VAT free from export from the UK and one firm had a plant in Donegal and another convienently across the border …. … .. .
The real fun will begin when they assign monetary values on the counties. Wouldn’t you prefer your county not to be on the board rather than be the cheapest!
Holywood plays in Division Three of the Co Down league, but for long periods of its history it played in South Antrim.
From memory, there are 22 street places on the board, but also 2 utilities and 4 train stations: what are they going to be?
I suggest for utilities: Water – so you can charge for it, and Phoenix gas, so you can charge even more for it.
