That’s Secretary of State for Wales and Northern Ireland [and MP for Neath - Ed] Peter Hain’s campaign to become Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and, he hopes, Deputy Prime Minister. In today’s Observer he declares “Labour’s new leader and deputy must seize back Labour’s natural leadership of the centre-left and build on the foundations of our success as a government with a bold, progressive agenda.”.. oh and Northern Ireland merits a mention.. as an example of his green credentials.. on energy, that is.. More Just noticed The Observer also wants your questions for Peter Hain when Andrew Rawnsley interviews him next week..
I’m really disturbed that after he has treated the people of Northern Ireland with such contempt he is even being seriously considered for this job. Well, I suppose at least it would mean a new SoS.
Don’t rate his chances. He doesn’t connect with the people. Hes not rooted in Britain.
