UTV report that arrest warrants have been issued for the four men who, when they appeared in court in December last year, pleaded guilty to the attempted kidnapping of diissident republican Bobby Tohill from Kelly`s Cellar Bar in February 2004 – the very 1st IMC report stated there were indications that “the operation was one planned and undertaken by the Provisional IRA.” The arrest warrants were issued today when the men failed to appear in court for sentencing.. they had been released on bail in December. 5.6 We have received information from a number of official and unofficial sources. We have carefully reviewed all of this material. We are conscious that we are not bound by the strict rules of evidence and that the material has not been subject to the testing one could expect in a criminal trial. We do however believe this material, taken as a whole, indicates that the operation was one planned and undertaken by the Provisional IRA.

There must be no hiding place for these would be killers, they must be hunted down and incarcerated with immediate effect.
I suppose we will be hearing from the failed tennis player now on how they didn’t get a fair trial.

its funny how they can name tohill but not name the 4 accused. they can name him publicly as a dissident republican. like what the fuck does that mean? even car thieves wear celtic tops. was he a tout, hood, drug dealer? if the 4 did exist they would have been named especially by the tele and news letter after all they did name catholics and give their addresses out even before being charged with any offence

sorry i stand corrected i didnt read the link. but after reading the link i can say from my point of view tohill is a tout, “he was rescued” what that means is he was meant to be in the bar as the 4 accused tried to take him away. but from kellys!! so grab a struggling man and frog march him out of a bar and into castle street. i dont think so!!. even though the war is over and the provies have decommissioned, he was wanted for questioning if they wanted him dead then he would be dead long before he got to the bar. just a cheap publicity stunt on behalf of the cops for a tout/hood/drug dealer. to rescue the so-called dissident. watch the news see if tohill isnt the new steak-knife

How aptly named you are “bag’oshite”, tohill will never be the new “steak-knife” irrespective of him being a tout or not. The new steak-knife to whom you refer can only come from within the ranks of the provisionals, and it has to be right from the top. That means it can only be either, or both, one of two suspects.

Why not read what The Blanket said about the case? Also, the IRA do not have a particularly good record in apprehending touts. They do not want any dissent and Tohill weas probably for a Royal bashing: you know, baseball bats, broken limbs, joints, permanent disfigurement, the sort of stuff the Provos excel at.

    LOL

As for Steak Knife. Only one of them as you know each Agent is given a personal ID.

    Martin,

Can’t say that I know through any professional capacity for definite but there are more than enough grounds for suspicion on both the barman and the butcher as I’m sure you are well aware. One of them for sure, just can’t make up my mind!
Also the very, very southern one with the unfortunate sailing experience, he’s a definite.

Gerry Adams has asked these misguided men to hand themselves in. LOL. Does it really mater if any or all of these people are touts? The Provos came off a narrow support base and them ore they can expand it, the less control the old guard can have. Sinn Fein TDs, for example, are not the most eloquent or effective of oppositions. Their forte is the back streets.

It depends which hat he’s wearing, doesn’t it? But the previous poster (‘Taigs’) used the word ‘asked’

Martin McGuinness is now asking these “gentlemen” to hand themselves in as they have “nothing to gain” by not doing porridge. Maybe all the on the runs should set an example and the killers of Gerry McCabe still at large. After all, they too have “nothing to gain”. By the same token, the “gentlemen” who sent the four hoods out to whack Tohill should also hand themselves in. And so should whoever sanctioned Bloody Friday etc etc.

I understand the position that Sinn Fein are in and why they felt the need to make these statements, but I fundamentally disagree. Good luck to the four of them. Away the lads.

Well, I think 20 years on the run will be a lot less fun than a few months inside – is that your point?
Alternatively, what’s your take on what they did (and confessed to)? Was it OK?
