If the Irish Thames is going to copy the shoddy journalism of Forbes then maybe they’ll adopt the staff management from the NY Times. The paper that gives us “all the news that’s fit to print” and one of the original “paper’s of record” (where did this title come from?) recently parted company with one of their journos of 28 years after she’s been released from jail for refusing to reveal her sources.

*Ms. Miller said she was leaving partly because some of her colleagues disagreed with her decision to testify in the C.I.A. leak case. "But mainly," she wrote, "I have chosen to resign because over the last few months, I have become the news, something a New York Times reporter never wants to be."…… Catherine Mathis, a spokeswoman for the paper, said it had been made clear to Ms. Miller that she would not be able to continue as a reporter of any kind, not just one covering national security. Ms. Miller's reporting came under attack after articles suggested that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, coverage that helped the Bush administration build its case for invading Iraq but that turned out to be wrong.*

<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/10/business/media/10paper.html?ex=1134277200&en=4ca26897e6cd43ff&ei=5095&partner=REPRISE&excamp=reprise_engine=google_kw=Judith_Miller_ag=B_The_New_York_Times_reporter_cn=111005">NY Times article</a>

Should the Irish Thames view a similar *alarmist and at times absurd broadside* as the Forbes-esque blog attack and the fact that the article and journo is becoming the news rather than reporting the news might we see D’Olier St sanction their minions like the NY Times.

If the mildly criticized blog-attack might be reprimand then what might happen to Kevin Myers after his MOB piece and Ruth D. Edwards’ contribution about nationalists being “quare and cocky”.

One last point (or pet hate):

*The words with which Labour politician Nye Bevan used to sign off his speeches seem apposite for the blog community: “This is my truth, now tell me yours.”*

I’m unfamiliar with this Labour politico Bevan. Was he part of Dick Spring’s crew or Michael O’Leary’s ? Which constituency did he represent in the Dail?
